No matter your body type, dressing well is about wearing clothes that are flattering and make you look and feel great. If you’re unsure where to start, never fear! The Cheat Sheet is here to help. We’ve compiled a list of some of the most flattering clothing. These items have slimming silhouettes that will make you look thinner.

We have some great news for you if you wear a suit five days a week: Suits, blazers, and sport coats are flattering because they give a clean, clear, and defined shape to the body, which is what you need. These particular items help to frame the body, according to The Art of Manliness. A suit that is expertly tailored, accentuating all of your good points, and not overly fitted is a great way to make a solid impression. Additionally, smooth slacks give you a nice, clean front, while a long overcoat ties it all together.
2. Vertical lines

When you have a larger frame, shirts and pants with vertical lines are your best friend, as they help to create the optical illusion of continuity to elongate your look. Make sure your vertical pattern is not too bold, as bold patterns will only draw unnecessary attention to the larger parts of your body.
3. Black, black, and more black (and other assorted dark colors)

Did we mention black is the ultimate slimming color? Black and other dark, solid colors instantly slim your physique to make you look 10 pounds thinner. It’s always been true and always will be true. Switch out your lighter denim for black and try it with a darker denim shirt or a navy button-down oxford. A black, monochrome look will always work.
4. Low-rise trousers/pants

The answer to hiding your larger belly lies in investing in lower-rise bottoms that sit on your hips as opposed to your waist. Low-rise pants, unlike regular trousers, have a shorter distance between the crotch to the top of the waistband. Lower-rise trousers will accommodate your midsection so your stomach doesn’t stick out over your pants — just so long as you make sure the waistband is large enough to accommodate. When your stomach protrudes over your pants, it shortens your legs and lengthens your torso, making you look larger. While we’re on the subject of pants, avoid pants with pleats because they can make your pelvic area look robust, says AskMen.
5. V-neck shirts

The V-neck creates the illusion of height and slims down a larger frame while also creating the illusion of a slimmer neckline, especially if you have a double chin. Wearing a V-neck draws the attention to your chest instead of to your neck. And this tip goes for both men and women. No matter what, avoid any bulky knits. When it comes to dress shirts, opt for ones with a pointed collar to draw attention to your face and away from your frame, thus creating a sort of optical illusion. Please avoid turtlenecks that will make you look shorter and as if your neck has done a disappearing act.

The Wall Street Journal says no matter how large your figure, you can look slimmer instantly by simply sitting up straight, sucking in your gut, and walking taller, with your shoulders back and chin up. Walk confidently in a manner that says you have no problem carrying around some extra weight and are proud of your figure.
