The developer of oxygen-carrying therapeutics reported Tuesday that it has been issued patent#8,513,309 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, titled Perfluorocarbons for use in Treating Pruritus. This patent covers methods for treating pruritus, a sensation that a patient instinctually tries to relieve by rubbing or scratching. The newly issued patent addresses part of the global dermatological drugs market, which is forecast to reach $24.4 billion by 2015, said the market research firm Visiongain.
