5 of the Best Meditation Apps

If you are stressed out, have trouble focusing, or just want to take five minutes to relax, everyone can benefit from meditation. However, most of us don’t know how or think it requires staying still for hours at a time. But that is not true. It’s easy to learn how to meditate, and even just two minutes a day of this practice can improve your state of mind. All you need to do is download an app, relax, and be mindful. Here are five of the most popular meditation apps.

1. Calm

Available for both iPhone and Android, Calm is free to download and has in-app purchases. However, the free version is expansive enough for most beginners. There are guided and non-guided meditations from two to 20 minutes. The guided voice is very soothing, as are the ambient tracks for the unguided meditations. Additionally, there is a reminder clock you can set, in case you have trouble remembering to take some time out for yourself every day.

2. Headspace

Considered the crème de la crème of meditation apps, Headspace for iOS and Android has users go through daily guided meditations narrated by Andy Puddicombe, who created the app. Headspace is so popular that Virgin Airlines even offers it as part of its in-flight entertainment. What a great way to ignore the person sitting next to you. Headspace costs $12.99 per month or $94.99 per year. However, there is a free 10-day trial, so you can see if it is the right meditation app for you.
