6 Cheesy Pickup Lines That Actually Work on Women
Approaching a woman is no easy feat and your natural inclination (or disgust, depending upon your personality) toward cheesy pickup lines may actually be a better approach than you initially thought. One-liners don’t usually work and women tend to think of corny pickup lines as “degrading, sexual, sexist, or just too forward,” says Terri Orbuch, Ph.D, author of Finding Love Again: 6 Simple Steps to a New and Happy Relationship. It’s OK that you’re not a comedian but be prepared to get some laughs and some phone numbers after giving these cheesy pickup lines a try.
Quick tip: Acknowledging the cheesiness of them is essential to making them work, you want to make sure that she knows that you’re all in on the joke. Or be prepared for awkward cricket silence, followed by a harsh exit from her.
Here are six pickup lines to try the next time you approach a woman. Be kind and share your results with men everywhere.
1. “Hello, I’m doing a survey of the worst pickup lines… what do you think?”
Think of the ellipsis as an “insert here” for your favorite cheesy pickup line. Using this line right away acknowledges that you don’t take yourself too seriously and you’re an easy going sort of guy. This will also help put her at ease.
2. “Aside from being sexy, what do you do for a living?”
Although obviously cheesy, this line provides equal parts compliment and equal parts interest in something other than the way she looks. This is sure to at least get an answer, as well as a way to rope her in.
3. “Do you like raisins? How do you feel about a date?”
I would recommend using this one after a few exchanges, as a way to sum up what you want from this woman. This line is adorable and I would laugh out loud if you tried it on me. I also wouldn’t be able to say no to at least a date with you because this line is just so cute, and it definitely took courage to use it. This would make me want to find out a little more about you.
4. “You know, Dr. Phil says I’m afraid of commitment. Want to help prove him wrong?”
5. “I bet you $20 you’re going to turn me down.”
“Most guys overestimate women’s interest in them, which can be obnoxious to women,” Walsh says. A little bit of self deprecation, and coming off as the nice, grounded guy can actually go a long way and make you stand out. Chances are, you’re not going to have to pay up.
6. “How does it feel to be the most beautiful girl here?”
