All the Celebrities We Expect to See at Meghan and Harry’s Wedding (And the People We Doubt Will Get an Invite)
As the royal wedding gets closer, there has been increased speculation about who will be invited and who will be left off the list. Now that the invitations have been sent out, things are looking a bit clearer.
Here are some celebrities we can assume will be present on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day, plus a few people who probably won’t make an appearance.
The Spice Girls
Former band member Mel B hinted at a royal wedding invitation back in February 2018. The singer confirmed in an interview that she and all of the other band members had definitely made the guest list for Harry and Meghan’s May nuptials. When asked if they would perform, Mel B also hinted yes. But the singer claimed she’d be fired if she gave away any further details about who would be there and whether or not they’d perform.

There was a lot of speculation that Elton John would receive a wedding invitation because he was such good friends with Princess Diana. He even performed at her funeral. Supposedly, the singer cancelled both of his shows the weekend of the wedding, leading more to believe that he would attend and possibly even perform. But as of late March 2018, the singer — who lives just down the road from Harry and Meghan’s wedding venue — said he still had not received an invite.

The famed tennis player has been a good friend of Meghan’s for a few years. The two met in 2014, and it’s been widely assumed that Williams will receive an invite. According to United Kingdom media outlets, Williams has also been helping Meghan get in shape for her big day. Although Meghan was not invited to Williams’ wedding, the two have remained close for a few years. It’s safe to say the tennis star will be there.
Next: This UK couple is close to both Harry and William.
David and Victoria Beckham
If Mel B gets an invite, we can assume Victoria Beckham will as well. Plus, the Beckhams also attended William and Kate’s 2011 nuptials. The Beckhams, one of the UK’s favorite power couples, have reportedly been friends with both William and Harry for a while. Victoria Beckham made headlines at William and Kate’s wedding for her sophisticated navy dress from her own collection. We’ll have to see if she rocks another one of her own dresses to Meghan and Harry’s wedding.
Next: This actress is one of Meghan’s best friends.
Actress Priyanka Chopra has been extremely close with Meghan for years. There was even speculation that she might be one of Meghan’s bridesmaids. When asked about how well Meghan is taking to her royal role, Chopra only had good things to say. But as for the bridesmaid role, Chopra told Harper’s Bizarre Saudi Arabia, “If you see me there, you’ll know.”
Next: Here’s who we think won’t get an invite.
No invite: Donald Trump
There has been a lot of speculation about whether or not the president would attend the royal wedding, especially since a royal is marrying an American. But Harry has been good friends with Barack Obama for a while, and most believe that Trump won’t be invited. In late January 2018, Trump said in an interview that he didn’t have an invite that he was aware of. But it’s still to be determined if the Obamas will receive an invite, since Harry likely doesn’t want to cause any kind of international controversy between the UK and the United States.
Next: One of Harry’s exes might be there, but the other one probably won’t.
No invite: Cressida Bonas
Although it’s been decided that Harry’s ex, Chelsea Davy, will likely receive an invite, his most recent ex will probably not. Cressida Bonas dated Harry from 2012 to 2014, but the two did reportedly not stay close after the breakup. But in March 2018, a rumor started that Meghan was calling off the wedding because Harry was still spending time with his ex. It was quickly debunked. Needless to say, the prince’s ex probably won’t score the same invite as his longtime friend and ex, Chelsea Davy.
Next: You’ll be surprised to know who else was left off the list.
No invite: All of Meghan’s family
While Meghan’s mother and father will be in attendance, some extended family won’t be. And it’s caused a bit of controversy in the Markle family. Meghan’s nephew and former sister in law (once married to Meghan’s brother, Thomas Markle Jr.) said during an interview with Us Weekly that Meghan and Harry did not send them an invitation. But in Meghan’s defense, her former sister in law has not been in contact with her in 20 years. And she hasn’t spoken to her nephew in three years.
