Plastic surgery may be meant to enhance someone’s features for the better. But every once in a while, going under the knife can have a negative effect. Even Hollywood celebrities are subject to a botched Botox injection or failed face lift. And for some of them, the results leave them looking like a completely different person. Here’s a look at some o the craziest celebrity plastic surgery disasters.
Rourke had cosmetic work done to his face to repair injuries he sustained while he was an amateur boxer in the 1990s. But the results left him looking worse for wear. While having his broken nose fixed using cartilage from his ear, he has also allegedly also had a facelift and implants placed in his cheekbones and chin. Rourke himself has admitted that the surgeries didn’t go so well, and insists that the surgeries were for medical reasons, not cosmetic ones.

You may remember Burns as the Dead Or Alive singer behind the catchy hit “You Spin Me Round.” But the late English singer looked very different in his late years than he did back in the 1980s. Burns revealed on the U.K. show Celebrity Botched Up Bodies that he had nearly 300 cosmetic procedures after his very first surgery — a rhinoplasty — didn’t turn out the way he wanted it to.

As The Hills began its descent from must-see reality TV, Montag also started her descent into plastic surgery hell. Montag had a reported 10 surgeries in one day, from having her ears pinned back to getting an F cup breast augmentation. Almost a decade later she admits that she was in over her head and that she didn’t think through how life-altering the process would be. (And yes, she eventually had her breasts downsized.)

The house of Versace will always be known for its magnificent clothes and intriguing back story. But nowadays, it’s also known for Donatella’s heavily transformed face. The fashion icon has admitted in the past to having Botox injections, which have left her eyelids, cheek, and lips looking puffy and cartoon-like.

After having an initial rhinoplasty in 1979 because he broke his nose, Jackson continued to get surgical enhancements and implants. (Although he often insisted that he hadn’t had work done.) One of the most noted changes to Jackson’s appearance was how much his skin lightened over time. It is possible that he suffered from a skin condition called vitiligo, but many people believe he was just using skin bleaching lotion.

Hannah claims she hasn’t had any plastic surgery. She even went so far as to tell the Daily Mail in an interview that there “are so many people in LA who have had cosmetic surgery and they all look like Muppets.” That being said, she clearly doesn’t look the same as she did when she starred in Splash or Wall Street. The actress hasn’t touched on whether or not she has had Botox though, which would explain her larger-than-life lips and puffy-looking eyes.

His rock star lifestyle was enough to make anyone age quickly. So the Guns N’ Roses front man tried to erase all that and make himself look young forever. If there’s one individual that epitomizes plastic surgery overkill, it is Jocelyn Wildenstein aka “The Lion Woman of New York.” The socialite reportedly became obsessed with altering her face after getting his-and-hers eyelifts with her former husband, Alec Wildenstein. Following a very public divorce from Ale, Jocelyn was told by a judge that she couldn’t spend her settlement money on any more cosmetic procedures. Safe to say, her altered appearance lives on as a cautionary tale for anyone who wants to drastically change the way they look.

The Academy Award winner dipped out of the limelight after a good run of successful movies. When she reemerged, Zellweger looked like a different person — sparking speculation that she’d had an eyelift. The Bridget Jones’s Diary star vehemently fired back on critics, penning an essay that slammed tabloids for putting such a high premium on women’s looks. While the message in her essay resonated with some of her fans, it doesn’t take away from her altered facial features.

The songstress had visibly had some cosmetic work done over the last decade or so, from a rhinoplasty or two to an eyelift. But recent photos of the Kim with bleach blond hair, extra skin, and very different eyes and cheekbones. She previously denied having any work done — the overwhelming evidence says otherwise.

But Rogers has become open about his plastic surgeries in recent years, even admitting to having an obsession with it when he had money to blow.
