Child support typically varies depending on how much money the one paying actually makes. But for celebrities, those numbers can mean shelling out thousands of dollars per month to support their children.
Below is a ranking of some of the highest amounts paid in child support (based on monthly payments for one child). Just wait till you see what celebrity made No. 1.
- Cost: $8,000 for one child
Rapper Nas reportedly pays $8,000 to his ex, “Milkshake” singer Kelis, for their son, Knight. However, in February 2018, Kelis reportedly took Nas to court, claiming that his payment was not enough for their child’s needs. Kelis wanted Nas to pay 50% of school-related costs, plus 50% of un-reimbursed health care. The case was still ongoing as of March 2018. At one point, it was believed that Nas was paying as much as $40,000 for the child, but it had been reduced throughout the years.

When Michael Strahan divorced his former wife, Jean Strahan, things with child support quickly got messy. Strahan was ordered to pay $18,000 for his two twin daughters after the couple divorced in 2005. But he tried to claim it was unnecessary, since he’d already paid her $15.3 million in addition to the child support. The settlement turned into a long battle in court.

Rapper Ludacris recently won custody of one daughter from her mother, Tamika Fuller. Fuller was originally in court asking for $15,000 per month from the rapper, but the judge realized she was in no position to take care of the child and awarded Ludacris full custody. However, the rapper still pays $10,000 per month to the mother of his other daughter, Karma, whom he had with an Atlanta attorney.

Just months earlier, Federline had said that the two co-parent very well and there were no issues.

Former NFL player Terrell Owens reportedly pays various amounts of child support to four different women. Owens used to have to pay more, but his bank records indicated that he could no longer afford the payments, so they were lowered accordingly.
