Dwayne Johnson Seems Like the Only Celebrity Who Isn’t Rushing to Tie the Knot
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has one message for the world: he isn’t rushing into anything, especially not marriage. The “Skyscraper” leading man and Hollywood superstar has two children and a life with girlfriend Lauren Hashian — but contrary to popular belief, the two aren’t married.
Johnson and Hashian met on the set of 2007’s Game Plan and began dating just a year later. They had their first daughter, Jasmine, in 2015 and their second, Tiana, in April 2018. Despite their growing family, strong careers, and deep love for each other, Johnson and Hashian aren’t married. “The Rock” explains why unlike a lot of Hollywood’s elite, he isn’t in any rush to tie the knot.
They’re in no rush to marry because they know it’s inevitable
Fans speculated that Johnson and Hashian married in secret because of multiple occasions where Johnson referred to his girlfriend as his “wife.” Johnson clarified why he uses that term … and what happened that led their relationship to the point it’s at.
“I just refer to her as my wife all the time. So a lot of people are like, ‘Oh, did you get married?'” he explained. “I’m like, ‘No. Easy. Don’t rush big daddy.'” Still, marriage wasn’t too far off for the couple before life simply changed their course. In April 2018 Johnson revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the two were already supposed to have been married until Hashian got pregnant.
“We were going to get married in the spring and we got pregnant,” he explained. “Lauren felt like, well, you know, mama [doesn’t want] to take pictures being pregnant in a wedding dress, so we’re just going to wait and not quite sure when, but I know it’s going to happen.”
So while the date isn’t (re)set for anytime soon, we have no doubt that Johnson and Hashian’s relationship is stronger than ever — wedding bells or not.
Still, summer seems to be the new ‘cuffing season’
Every other couple in Hollywood seems to be getting engaged. First, it was Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson, next came Katharine McPhee and David Foster, and most recently, heartthrob Justin Bieber took himself off the market when he proposed to model Hailey Baldwin.
Each engagement was unique, and while the declarations of love on Instagram speak for themselves, the couples moved quickly. Both Grande and Davidson were tied to other people a month before they announced their plans to marry, and Bieber and Baldwin followed a similar quick timeline.
Meanwhile, McPhee, 34, defended her engagement to Foster, 68. While fans made comments about the couple’s age difference, the Waitress broadway star had a simple message: “y’all should be worrying more about registering to vote and midterm elections than who’s marrying me. thank you for coming to my TED talk,” she tweeted.
