These Are All the Events President Donald Trump Has Been Asked Not to Attend

President Trump is having a hard time getting invited to some major social events across the world. These events were something of a guaranteed invitation to almost every president we have ever had. But now, due to Trump’s bluster and over the top twitter hyperbole, those invitations have stopped coming.

Take a look at some of the major social events that Trump will not be invited to or has not attended. Some of these have got to sting, while others actually make sense. These are pretty significant snubs and we will explain why on page eight.

Trump will not attend the royal wedding

More than 2,600 people were invited to the royal wedding held at St. Georges Cathedral and Windsor Castle. One of the families not invited are the Trumps. Adding insult to injury it is rumored that former POTUS Barack Obama was invited to the ceremony and reception. However, a source told Harper’s Bazaar that the Obama’s will not be attending.

As it turns out, there aren’t going to be any major political leaders at the royal wedding unless they are extremely close friends or family. “It has been decided that an official list of political leaders – both UK and international – is not required for Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding,” a Kensington Palace Spokesman said to HB. Not even English Prime Minister Theresa May is invited to the event.

The Trumps weren’t invited to the Met Gala

The Met Gala is high society’s grandest affair. Donald Trump himself has been a mainstay of the event for decades. However, he is not invited to the 2018 Met Gala nor will he ever be invited back again. Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, told James Corden, under threat of pickled pigs feet that Donald Trump would never be invited back to the event.

Trump proposed to Melania at the 2004 Met Gala

The Met Gala is much more than a celebrity fundraiser for Metropolitan Museum of Art for Donald and Melania Trump. In 2004, Donald Trump proposed to Melania at the event. He gave her a 15-carat diamond ring which cost $1.5 million dollars (he did get a $1 million dollar discount for publicity).

Not being allowed to attend the very event that you proposed to your wife has got to add to an already strained marriage.

Trump is explicitly not allowed at John McCain’s funeral

US Senator John McCain looks on during a meeting with Afghan Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah at the Sapedar Palace in Kabul on December 25, 2014. Mccain met with Afghanistan's CEO Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul on December 25, less than a week before the December 31 end of NATO's combat mission in the country. NATO-led US troops are wrapping up their mission in Afghanistan after 13 years, but about 12,500 NATO troops -- most of them from the US -- will stay in Afghanistan into next year on a follow-up mission to support the national security forces. No, John McCain hasn’t died yet, but he was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017. McCain has been getting all of his affairs in order and he has made one thing very clear: Trump cannot attend his funeral. the move garnered some ire from Republican party members. However, Mike Pence has been extended an invitation. Trump is not being invited because of a very long-standing feud between the senator and the president.

It is not a tradition for sitting presidents to attend former first lady’s funerals. However, his absence from Barbara Bush’s funeral and his wife’s attendance did draw some attention. Every living president also attended the funeral to be by George H.W. Bush’s side in his time of grief.

Many noted that Melania finally seemed happy for the first time in a long time. This begs the question about how well things are going for the two when the wife is only happy at funerals the husband is not attending. I digress.

Tensions between the French president and Trump have been palpable at least. In 2017, Emmanuel Macron hosted a summit of more than 100 countries to discuss climate change. Most notably not in attendance was U.S. President, Donald Trump.

Trump wasn’t invited because of his rash decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement earlier that year. Trump wants to renegotiate the terms of the agreement that he says isn’t fair to America. The problem is that the other 180 plus countries that signed the agreement refuse to renegotiate.

Next: Some of these seem insignificant, but they paint a bad picture for the U.S. and here’s why.

Not being invited reduces your power on the global stage

The United States has been a leader in global change for centuries. When something comes up, we are the first people to the table, no matter the situation. that comes from our respect and diplomatic power that we wield across the globe.

When our president stops getting invited to these types of things, it shows that the rest of the world does not respect the United States as a whole. If other countries stop respecting us as a whole, we lose our diplomatic power and ability to effect change.

Now when that happens, how are we supposed to Make America Great Again?
