Every Time Melania’s Scandalous Outfits Stole the Show From Donald Trump
Fashion has no place in politics, right? Wrong. Especially if you’re Melania Trump, the current First Lady of the United States. We aren’t here to bash Melania’s outfits — on the contrary, they’re all obviously stunning.
Regardless of your political standpoint, there’s no denying that Melania has stolen the show from her husband with some of the outfit choices she’s made. Literally, headline after headline boasts, “Melania stole the show,” so it has to be true, right? Here are some of her show-stopping outfits as well as a word from her stylist (page 7).
When she went with Donald to meet Thailand’s PM and First Lady
President Trump and Melania welcomed Thailand’s prime minister into the White House in October. Prayut Chan-ocha and Madame Naraporn Chan-ocha’s visit was intended to continue navigating tricky relations between the U.S. and its oldest ally, Asia, according to The Washington Times.
However, the result was a response similar to this one from AOL, “The first lady dazzled in a fit-and-flare tweed dress from the British fashion house that she paired with a pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos in a tangerine hue. The former model kept her makeup light, with a nude lip, and her brunette tresses in a blown out style.”
When she visited a Tokyo elementary school
Melania visited Kyobashi Tsukiji Elementary School with Japan’s First Lady, Akie Abe, the wife of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on the first couple’s recent Asia trip. Three hundred elementary school students welcomed the First Ladies with a school song before posing for pictures and sharing high-fives, AOL reports.
Melania dawned a navy blue cape dress with a “tonal belt that cinched at her waist and showcased her fit figure.” She finished the look with her signature stilettos.
When her husband hosted Australia’s PM
#MelaniaTrump Wore a Yellow #ChristianDior Dress to Meet With Australian Prime Minister #MalcolmTurnbull *While meeting the Australian prime minister in New York, Melania wore an asymmetrical Christian #Dior dress. But it wasn't the #silk crepe dress that caught everyone's attention, it was the shade of the dress that sparked conversation. It seems like Melania strategically chose the Dior number because it was Australia's national color. The single-shouldered dress with cape was absolutely dreamy #maga #yellowdress #flotus #firstlady #australia #donaldtrump #fashion #newyork #potus
Not only did the First Lady “steal the show” from Donald during yet another meeting with a foreign country’s top politician, she did it on his first trip back to New York City after his inauguration. The guest of honor, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, joined the first couple at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum off Manhattan’s West Side Highway.
The media wasn’t all that interested in the union of the two nations, however, even though the event came soon after reports that the President and PM had a “tense phone call” surfaced. Melania was too busy looking fabulous in a yellow off-the-shoulder Christian Dior gown.
When she went to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey
The New York Times dubbed Melania’s shoe choice in Texas, among other things, a potential symbol and “another example of the way in which this president and his family continue to define ‘appropriate’ their own way.”
That time she wore sunglasses and the public felt disrespected

When she delivered her UN speech
The First Lady’s public was a bit perplexed following her U.N. speech for both it’s topic and the attire she wore while delivering it. Melania wore a hot pink Delpozo dress ($3000) with “statement sleeves,” and as one Twitter user pointed out, the choice was a bit ironic.
“Melania Trump, wearing a pink Delpozo designer dress worth thousands, says, “No child should ever feel hungry…,'” Anne tweeted.
A word from Melania’s stylist
The method behind the madness (and the headlines) was recently revealed. While a few designers who dressed previous First Ladies, including Sophie Theallet and Christian Siriano, declined to dress Melania, one was up for the task. Enter Hervé Pierre. Amid all of the controversy surrounding Melania’s wardrobe, Pierre described their relationship as “purely aesthetic,” rather than political.
“The beauty of this country is it’s a democracy, so some people want to dress certain people and some people don’t want to. I choose to,” Pierre said. “What interests me in this relationship is not just finding pretty clothes — a lot of people can do that. It’s more about the legacy of this woman. Everybody has a different reaction to what she’s wearing,” he said.
