Everything We Know About Steph and Ayesha Curry’s First Son, Canon
Last month, Steph Curry and fellow Golden State Warriors players dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers and celebrated their second straight NBA championship victory. This week, Curry and his family are celebrating something new, yet equally exciting: The birth of his first son.
Steph Curry and wife Ayesha Curry welcomed their son, Canon W. Jack Curry, on Monday, July 2. He made his first Instagram debut on July Fourth.
Ayesha first announced her pregnancy on Instagram in early February, exactly five months before Canon was born. She posted a photo of her in a T-shirt spelling “PREGGERS” in all caps with the caption, “Heyyyy how did this happen?!”
Both parents — one an NBA champion and the other an author, celebrity chef, and TV personality — are extremely active on social media. It was the perfect place to introduce Canon to their fans after some much-needed rest and baby cuddles.
Third-time dad Steph Curry didn’t waste any time showing off the newest addition to his family — as he should! He posted a photo of the newborn on Instagram, writing: “On this journey, on this quest . . . protect me . . . I’m bless! Canon W. Jack Curry.”
It’s tough being the parents of a newborn — even without two additional tiny humans to look after — so it’s likely we’ll see fewer photos from both Currys while they settle into their “new normal.”
Thankfully, this isn’t the couple’s first venture into the hectic world of parenthood. Canon makes the Currys a family of five, preceded by his sisters Riley and Ryan. Riley made headlines in 2016 when she crashed her dad’s post-game press conference and told him to “be quiet” as he spoke into a microphone.
Ayesha Curry also announced her son’s arrival on her Instagram, posting a photo of their three kids together for the first time. The sibling love is strong after only a few days.
She wrote: “My heart is FULL. God has been too good to us,” she wrote. “Our beautiful baby boy Canon W.Jack Curry 7/2/2018. He joined us earlier than we thought and we couldn’t be more excited and grateful. Family of 5!”
It’s normal for parents of a newborn to feel both excited and relieved once their child arrives. The Currys felt even more grateful after enduring a particularly difficult pregnancy, which Ayesha opened up about on Instagram earlier this year.
She wrote: “6 down 3 to go! Praising God because I can finally eat and cook a little bit again! Pray that it sticks for me y’all! Ive had 5 hospital stays since the new year and have pretty much been sucking at life (at least that’s how it’s felt.)”
The good times never seem to end for this family. In June, Ayesha announced she’ll be hosting a new ABC competition show, Family Food Fight, featuring real families cooking together to win big. And it’s safe to predict Steph will continue to lead the Warriors to more victories in the not-so-distant future.
One thing’s for sure: Canon is going to grow up well-educated in all things food, basketball, and cuteness — just like his parents and older sisters.
