‘Flip or Flop’s’ Christina El Moussa Is Obsessed With This 1 Food (Plus, What She Eats Every Day)

In the midst of a divorce from husband Tarek El Moussa, Flip or Flop star Christina El Moussa wasn’t feeling much of an appetite, admitting food was the last thing on her mind. However, she wanted to get back to feeling healthier for her and her two children’s sake, she told People. With the help of her friend who is a dietician, Christina came up with a meal plan.

With two kids, a new boyfriend, and a show to film, Christina still makes time to eat right. Here we’ll look at what she eats in a day to feel healthy and stay trim. See which food she can’t do without (“I am obsessed!” — page 5) and what foods she indulges in twice a week (page 7).

1. Breakfast

  • 8 oz. coffee with organic creamer
  • Overnight oats with peanut butter, cinnamon, and banana

“The overnight oats at breakfast pack heart-healthy fat and protein from the peanut butter, filling fiber from the oats and banana, and the cinnamon helps keep blood sugars stable,” Atlanta-based dietitian Marisa Moore told People.

Sometimes, Christina opts for another variation: Blueberry Muffin Overnight Oats, made with fresh blueberries and almonds.

  • Green juice from Mother’s Market health food store
  • Perfect Bar or a rice cake with peanut butter

Christina gets in a workout on the way to pick up her daily juice. “My current favorite workout is to push my double stroller to my favorite juice place, which happens to have Taylor’s favorite donut and bagel place next door, or the park,” she said. “[The stroller is] so heavy and we have really steep hills by my house, so it’s definitely a good workout!”

3. Lunch

  • Salad with fresh vegetables and cheese

Christina says her typical go-to lunch is a kale and quinoa salad with avocado, cherry tomatoes, and either feta or goat cheese. While her Perfect Bar snack packs in a heavy 300 calories (bordering on a full meal replacement), that’s balanced out by “her lighter lunch, which adds more healthy fats and beta-carotene from the greens,” dietician Moore said.

During busy Flip or Flop shoots, the HGTV star often has a meal-prep service deliver healthy meals like a salmon-topped salad full of fresh fruit, nuts, and vegetables.

4. Snack #2

  • Blueberry muffin smoothie with blueberries, greens, rolled oats, vanilla, cashews, chia seeds, maca powder, and almond milk

The Flip or Flop star is a huge smoothie fan, enjoying one daily for her afternoon snack. On busy work days, she prepares the ingredients beforehand.

“I cut up all the ingredients except milk and put in plastic baggies in the freezer or fridge and just throw them and milk in the blender when I’m ready,” she said. “So, it literally takes five minutes and I have a full meal.”

She also enjoys a snack of cucumbers and pretzels dipped in hummus.

As we’ve seen, Christina incorporates peanut butter into both her morning oatmeal and her morning snack. “The only thing I really crave (which is the only thing I craved during pregnancy too) is peanut butter. I am obsessed!” she said. “Every day, I have a peanut butter Perfect Bar and also always a snack of rice cake with peanut butter. I don’t know what it is, I’ve never like peanut butter this much before.”

6. Dinner

  • Chicken or carne asada tacos on corn tortillas

Christina’s choice of taco dinner dinner is “satiating and a perfect way to end the day,” dietician Moore commented; she also suggested adding a vegetable slaw to round out the tacos.

When she’s not having tacos, Christina said she typically has a serving of lean meat with servings of veggies and grains on the side.

7. Evening indulgences

  • Wine and peanut butter cups

Two nights a week, Christina enjoys a glass of wine and/or a Justin’s organic mini peanut butter cup. “It’s all about everything in moderation,” she said. “If I want a glass of wine, I’m going to have it, or some chocolate — sure, why not? For me, my nutrition routine is a way of life, and I have so much energy when I exercise and eat a healthy balanced diet.”

Moore approves of Christina’s indulging in wine and chocolate a few times a week, calling it “a nice treat.”
