This 1 Shared Guilty Pleasure Proves Chrissy Teigen and Donald Trump Have More in Common Than You Think

One is president of the United States and a former reality TV star. The other is a model, a Lip Sync Battle host, and was a Hillary Clinton supporter throughout the 2016 election. Both are avid tweeters, and a lot of people probably think that’s the only thing the two have in common.

Think again. Donald Trump and Chrissy Teigen have the same guilty pleasure (page 4), down to the last bite (page 7). But first, let’s take a look at the history of their interactions.

Still, the 2 aren’t huge fans of each other

Chrissy Teigen and her husband, John Legend, attended Comedy Central’s Donald Trump Roast in 2011, which she called “hands down the best room I’ve ever been in.” This marked 2011 as the start of Teigen’s opposition toward Trump, at least publicly. Teigen told People, “I have been very anti-Trump since The Apprentice, like when it first started, so it didn’t start during the presidency like everyone thinks. This goes pretty deep.”

Trump hasn’t directly responded to Teigen’s comments about him. But back in 2015, he retweeted someone calling Teigen a “trashy gutter mouth woman.”

Next: Some highlights from Teigen’s trolling

She trolls him on Twitter

Teigen isn’t a bandwagon Trump troller. The Lip Sync Battle host has been an active participant for years. “I’ve actually been a big Donald Trump hater (for a long time). I’ve been trolling him for about 5 to 7 years now,” she told USA Today. “I’ve been doing this forever, and I take pride in that.”

A few highlights include Trump tweeting, “We must keep ‘evil’ out of this country!” and Teigen asking what time America should call him an Uber. She also offered him these instructions on how to delete his Twitter account.

Nearly nine years after Teigen began her take-down-Trump Twitter extravaganza, he finally seemed to have had enough. Trump had tweeted, “It’s very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President.” Teigen gave the simple, five-word response: “lol no one likes you.”

That seemed to be the final straw for Trump. He blocked Teigen, and she wasted no time calling him out. “After 9 years of hating Donald J Trump, telling him ‘lol no one likes you’ was the straw,” she tweeted.

But they both love McDonald’s

They may not agree on political matters or like each other, but they share a common love for America’s favorite fast food chain: McDonald’s. Teigen is a long-time fan of the restaurant. Her baby shower for daughter Luna featured a McDonald’s buffet, and she partnered with the corporation to celebrate its partnership with UberEATS by giving out food and merchandise to firefighters in New Jersey.

As for the president, you can find his McDonald’s diet all over the internet. According to Fire and Fury, Trump frequents the chain because he fears being poisoned. Trump also thinks fast food restaurants are some of the cleanliest establishments. “I like cleanliness,” he said. “I think you’re better off going there than someplace you have no idea where the food is coming from. It’s a certain standard.”

Trump is worth a lot of money, and he has the White House chef at his disposal. However, according to Let Trump Be Trump, former campaign aides Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie wrote Trump opts for his McDonald’s order frequently. According to The Washington Post, previewing the book, “Trump’s appetite seems to know no bounds when it comes to McDonald’s, with a dinner order consisting of ‘two Big Macs, two Fillet-O-Fish, and a chocolate malted.'”

McDonald’s has appeared in a few of Teigen’s tweets. And she starred in its 2017 commercial that premiered at the Grammys.

Her love for the chain dates back to her childhood. When Refinery29 asked how long she’d been a fan of McEverything, Teigen responded, “Some of my earliest memories are driving my dad to the airport in Seattle with my mom and it would be 5:30 in the morning. My dad thought I was getting in the car to say goodbye to him because he traveled so much for work, but it was really so I could get a sausage McMuffin with egg.”

They actually have a similar order

Trump would make runs to McDonald’s on the campaign trail and order Egg McMuffins in the morning, according to Eater. Lunch or dinner called for “two Quarter Pounders and a large fries.” Teigen also is a “quarter pounder with cheese person,” according to Refinery29. And she expressed her love for Egg McMuffins and how they reminded her of her childhood.
