On the company’s website, it says Dunkin’ Donuts tried to secretly test the new fries in their hometown of Boston earlier in 2018. However, once people found out about the new offering, they went to social media to express their excitement and request fries at their local Dunkin’ Donuts.

Dunkin Donuts wants to give the customers what they want. In a statement, Tony Weisman, Dunkin’ Donuts’ Chief Marketing Officer, said the chain was responding to consumers’ desire to have the donut fries available at more locations:

There was a strong consumer response towards bringing Donut Fries to all Americans during the initial test, and we are excited to make this unique donut treat available nationwide this summer.
How many calories are in Dunkin’ Donuts Donut fries?
One serving of donut fries, which is five individual pieces, contains 240 calories, 220 mg of sodium, 5 grams of sugar, and 14 grams of fat. The total calorie count is less than a chocolate frosted donut, which is 280 calories, and half the calories of an apple fritter, which is 420 calories, according to the company’s nutrition information.
If you have multiple food allergies, you might not want to try Dunkin’ Donuts’ donut fries. The allergy information on the website states the fries may contain traces of egg, soy, and tree nuts (hazelnut, pecan, walnut, almond).
