Here’s How Much Money Melania Trump Actually Makes — And Why She’d Still Be Financially Stable if She Divorced Donald Trump

The Office of Government Ethics recently released a document detailing how much both Donald and Melania Trump made in 2017. And while it’s no surprise Donald made plenty of money, something some people might not know is that Melania actually has a hefty nest egg of her own. Check out page 4 to see how much she took home in 2017, and get her full net worth on page 6.

Melania’s modeling career is actually what attracted the president to her in the first place. She had posed nude in several instances, and the moment Donald saw her at a party, he knew he wanted to make her his wife. She graced the covers of magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar after she married Donald. And she made a pretty penny from agreeing to do those photo shoots, which have given her a startling net worth today. (But since Donald Trump was elected, Melania has failed to appear on any major magazine covers.)

Next: Melania had other business ventures, too.

Melania Trump also sold a successful jewelry line, which added to her fortune

Despite trying to launch a skincare line that never got off the ground, Melania did see success in her jewelry line. She sold jewelry through QVC, which she launched on the network in 2010. And when Donald Trump was elected president, Melania’s biography page on the White House website mentioned her successful jewelry line. Critics were outraged that the Trumps were promoting personal brands on the White House page. The jewelry blurb was eventually removed.

Donald Trump recently released his financial disclosure form, which detailed how much Melania made in 2017

The Office of Government Ethics released Donald’s financial disclosure form, which detailed a lot about his previous year’s income. Business Insider reported that it also showed reimbursement of the hush money that Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, had paid Stormy Daniels. But it also revealed something we’d all been wondering for a while: How much money Melania Trump actually makes.

Melania Trump reportedly made between $100,000 and $1,000,000 from Getty image royalties

The financial form disclosed that the majority of Melania’s 2017 income came from image royalties. Since Melania spent so much time in the news, Getty images ended up making her hundreds of thousands of dollars. (The form did not disclose the exact amount.) Every time an image of someone is used in a published piece, that person is granted royalties.

Next: This million-dollar asset of Melania’s was also on the disclosure form.

Melania Trump also has a $1.5 million condominium asset

Another item on the financial disclosure form was a one-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom condominium in Trump Tower that Melania purchased herself for $1.5 million. She still owns the property, making it an asset rather than a source of income. But if Melania decided to sell it, she’d count that toward this year’s income, minus the taxes she’d pay on it. Between the modeling, the image royalties, and Trump’s assets, her net worth is far greater than you might think.

Next: Here’s what Melania’s alleged net worth actually is.

Melania’s net worth is a cool $50 million. She ties with Jackie Kennedy for the wealthiest first lady of all time. A “net worth” is determined by calculating everything a person owns, minus any liabilities, to find out a person’s worth. Melania also has a slew of incredibly expensive clothes, and those could ramp up her net worth as well. Plus, something like a multi-million-dollar condominium, or a car that she purchased, would also count toward her net worth.

Next: Melania would be financially OK without Donald Trump.

It seems like everyone believes Melania only married Donald for his money. And while it’s no secret that her marriage to Donald helped her get certain jobs (such as various magazine covers after their 2005 wedding), Melania has fared well on her own. If her marriage to Donald is in turmoil like everyone thinks, and the couple ended up getting divorced, Melania would not end up on the streets. She’d find a million-dollar home and settle in — and maybe even make millions off a book deal about what it’s really like to be married to Donald.

In all fairness, Melania seems like an independent woman. In fact, on several occasions, she has proved to the world that she does not need Donald. Sometimes, she swats his hand when he tries to show affection. Other times, she walks without him, because she doesn’t need him to wait for her (or is it because he doesn’t care to?). The signs of divorce are ever-present between Melania and Donald Trump, but the couple still does have a son together. They might try to make the marriage work for him.
