If You Avoid Even Half of These Bad Habits Chances Are You’ll Live Longer Than Donald Trump
Donald Trump is far from the epitome of good health, and his everyday habits explain exactly why. Even if he claims to “feel the same age” as NFL star Tom Brady, there’s no hiding that he’s gained a significant amount of weight since his election as president.
Not only is his food consumption horrifying, but he actually has a theory about why he thinks exercise is bad for your body. At this rate, we’re wondering how quickly his deadly habits will catch up to him. We’d recommend avoiding all these bad habits — but even if you stay away from half of them, you’re far more likely to live a long, healthy life.
1. His fast food obsession
It’s a wonder how Trump is still functioning on any level with the amount of fast food he eats. According to his former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and aide David Bossie, Trump only knows four major food groups: “McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza, and Diet Coke.”
Lewandowski and Bossie revealed that Trump’s diet “seems to know no bounds when it comes to McDonald’s, with dinner consisting of two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish, and a chocolate malt.” And on top of all this, he reportedly drinks twelve cans of Diet Coke per day.
Nutritionist and author Dr. Zoe Harcombe says “Twelve cans of Diet Coke contain far more than an adult’s daily recommended dose of caffeine. Consuming too much of it induces energy highs followed by crashing lows and potentially manic [behavior], which could explain his enraged tweets.”
2. He has a sweet tooth, but not for fruit
If you thought there was a chance Trump would skimp on dessert, you thought wrong. Whenever guests are over for dinner at the White House, Trump is always served a little extra for dessert. According to Time, “He gets two scoops of vanilla ice cream with his chocolate cream pie, instead of the single scoop for everyone else.”
Although Vice President Mike Pence reportedly swaps the pie option for a fruit plate, a former aide claims they’ve never witnessed Trump touch a piece of fruit or even nuts for a healthy snack.
Dr. Harcombe explained, “Junk food is associated with reduced longevity and a higher incidence of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and certain cancers. The fact he doesn’t drink alcohol, tea, or coffee isn’t enough to negate the very unhealthy nature of his lifestyle.”
3. He’s sleep deprived
Forget the healthy seven to nine hours of sleep that Mayo Clinic recommends. Considering Trump is the president, you’d think he’d want sufficient sleep in order to keep a clear mind when making big decisions. However, it was revealed that Trump gets between four and five hours of sleep per night.
Trump admitted on The O’Reilly Factor, “I am working long hours, long hours, and right up till 12:00 a.m. or 1:00 a.m.,” and that he wakes up at 5 a.m. every morning to get back to it. While he might think it comes across as working hard, it sounds like his lack of sleep is likely adding to his cranky and irrational behavior.
According to the National Health Service, “Regular poor sleep puts you at risk of serious medical conditions, including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes — and it shortens your life expectancy.”
4. He doesn’t believe in exercise
Trump doesn’t just avoid exercise; he believes it’s actually bad for you. He’s even curated a theory to explain his reasoning, but to us, it sounds like someone just wants a doctor’s note to get out of gym class.
Mike Kranisch and Marc Fisher of The Washington Post explained Trump’s “battery” theory in their book, Trump Revealed:
After college, after Trump mostly gave up his personal athletic interests, he came to view time spent playing sports as time wasted. Trump believed the human body was like a battery, with a finite amount of energy, which exercise only depleted. So he didn’t work out. When he learned that John O’Donnell, one of his top casino executives, was training for an Ironman triathlon, he admonished him, “You are going to die young because of this.”
Sure, Trump plays golf, but he only travels between holes by cart. He actually considers his rallies to be his form of exercise, but that’s as far as the president will go. If he wants to live a longer and healthier life, he should consider exercising the recommended 150 minutes per week, according to Healthline. On top of a ton of benefits, exercise helps reduce the risk of chronic disease, improves muscles and bones, and aids in healthy weight loss.
5. He watches way too much TV
Trump insists that he has little time for watching TV because he’s “reading documents — a lot.” We may have already seen right through that excuse, but The New York Times confirmed that he’s borderline obsessed with sitting in front of the TV.
Though he spends a minimum of four hours per day watching the news, he’ll often spend up to eight hours doing so. Not only is he watching his favorite programs on Fox News (mainly Fox & Friends), but he’s keeping up with those “fake news” programs, such as MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Nevermind the fact that watching TV prevents you from exercising, the act of sitting for too long causes major strain on your health. According to Telegraph, research has proven a number ways sitting negatively impacts your body, including an increase in risk of diabetes, damage in mental health, and increased blood pressure.
6. He’s taking dangerous drugs for hair growth
Trump’s hair will seemingly always be a topic of conversation. Whether he’s got hair transplants, a toupé, or it’s somehow his real head of hair, we may never know. What we do know, thanks to his personal physician, is that Trump is taking Propecia, the name brand for finasteride. It’s a medication intended to promote male hair growth, but its side effects are overwhelmingly concerning.
It comes as no surprise that Merck, the company that markets Propecia, has been the subject of 1,370 lawsuits. The major side effects that have people suing include “chronicle sexual dysfunction, mood swings, and ruined relationships, even suicides.”
If Trump doesn’t want to deal with these potentially permanent effects, he should probably find another way to deal with his hair loss.
7. His addiction to tanning
There’s no hiding that Trump has spent many a days in a tanning booth. As if his orange hue of skin wasn’t enough, his pale goggle lines make his tanning habit quite obvious. Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation is bad for your skin no matter what, but tanning booths put you at major risk for skin cancer every time you step foot inside.
We’d recommend giving your natural skin color a try, and lathering on the sunscreen whenever you’re in the sun. Not only will you decrease your chances of skin cancer, but you’ll avoid the premature skin aging associated with tanned skin.
With all of Trump’s deadly habits, many have voiced their concerns. Greg Valliere, chief global strategist at Horizon Investment, expressed, “We would reiterate that we wish Donald Trump a long and healthy life. But there are serious danger signs, and we hope the president and his family will address them.”
