Jennifer Aniston Reveals Her Surprisingly Painless Workout Secrets
It may seem like Jennifer Aniston has had it pretty easy (a successful career, age-defying skin, perfect hair, a smoking hot husband, and a killer body), but one thing’s for certain: she works hard. Especially when it comes to her body.
Ever wonder how the Hollywood A-lister stays in such great shape? We share some of her favorite workouts below.
1. She’s consistent, but likes to switch things up
When it comes to her weekly workout routine, one thing’s for sure: She’s consistent and likes to switch things up to keep her body guessing. In an interview with InStyle, Aniston told the magazine “I workout almost everyday, at least five or six days a week. I do 40 minutes of cardio: spinning, running, the elliptical, or a combination of all three.”
Switching up your workout routine can help your body stay challenged. In turn, you may notice results quicker than if you were to do the same thing every single day. Clearly Jen knows what she’s doing.
2. She never leaves home without a set of 8-pound weights
Another way she keeps her fit physique? By traveling with a set of free weights. She told InStyle, “I take eight-pound weights with me whenever I’m staying in a hotel. It’s always good to do arm exercises when you’re watching television or talking on the phone. I also love to stretch before bed, and usually do a couple of sit-ups.”
While traveling with 16 pounds worth of free weights may sound a little ridiculous, we are willing to do ridiculous things to get arms like Aniston’s. Also, how does one talk on the phone while lifting free weights?
In addition to her hotel workouts and switching up her cardio, Aniston told InStyle she also likes to incorporate Pilates into her workout regimen. Pilates can be a great way to build strength in your core, improve your flexibility, and more.
4. Battle ropes
Another workout Aniston swears by? Battle ropes. In an interview with Vogue, she mentioned how she started doing the exercise while filming We’re the Millers and “really liked it.” That said, even Aniston needs a break from challenging workouts. “It kicks your butt, though, so I dip in and out of that throughout the year,” she noted.
5. Throwing heavy boulders and pushing medicine balls
In addition to battle ropes, Aniston let Vogue in on some of the workouts she does with her trainer. “I’m back in the gym with my trainer, throwing heavy boulders and pushing medicine balls,” she explained. Throwing boulders and pushing medicine balls can help build muscle strength and definition — hence why Aniston looks so great.
6. The Class by Taryn Toomey
While she has admitted to going in and out of exercises, she does have a favorite workout class: The Class by Taryn Toomey. Considered a “cathartic movement experience,” The Class is a 65 or 75-minute workout that works to open the heart and strengthen the muscles to help build a stronger, leaner, more resilient body.
7. 45-minutes of intervals on the elliptical
Lastly, the key to her insanely fit body is her commitment to the elliptical. “I do 45 minutes of intervals on my elliptical,” she explained to Vogue. “I raise the incline, run for two mins, walk for one, run for two … and I do it for 20 minutes straight until I’m just drenched,” she added.
While the idea of spending 45 minutes on the elliptical sounds excruciating, Aniston has found a way to make it more fun. By doing intervals, she’s able to get in a hard workout and keep things interesting for her mind and body.
