From Kim’s famous relationships to Kylie’s notoriously addictive Instagram, every member of the Kardashian / Jenner clan has carved out a name for herself (or himself). And if you’ve followed Khloe’s journey, you know a defining factor in her life has been her recent weight loss. She’s undergone a total transformation since she split with her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, and she looks incredible.
But recently, Khloe revealed some hurtful comments her family made to her — and while it’s not exactly surprising, it still makes us see her in a whole new light.
Khloe Kardashian lost an impressive 40 pounds by changing her lifestyle. She admits that the stress of her divorce motivated her to take better care of herself. Exercise is an excellent stress reliever, so Khloe hit the gym and made positive changes to her diet, cutting out dairy and adding more veggies. Her goal, she said, was never overnight weight loss — it was just to shed pounds the healthy way.
The results speak for themselves
Clearly, Khloe’s slow approach to weight loss has worked. She maintains her figure by working out daily, mixing cardio, HIIT, and strength training to mobilize fat and build muscle. She also makes sure to stay hydrated, stocks her fridge with healthy snacks, and she allows herself the occasional indulgence so she never feels deprived.
Last year, Khloe landed her own show, called Revenge Body. Despite the aggressive name, Khloe insists it’s more about the feeling of empowerment that comes from losing weight and getting healthy than about getting revenge on other people. Revenge Body was just renewed for a second season, and the truth is, Khloe may feel the name of the show is fitting since she got a little “revenge” of her own … and not because of her ex-husband.
Khloe’s weight was ‘bad for the brand’
Recently, Khloe shared a clip from the season 2 premiere of Revenge Body, showing her having a heart-to-heart with a contestant. She admitted to the contestant that it was her family that pressured her to lose the weight.
“[They said] ‘Khloe, you got to lose weight ‘cause you’re really hurting the brand,” she recalls. “I’m a huge believer of it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it…I understand that was coming from my management side of my family, but it does hurt.”
The ‘management’ side of the family
The Kardashian – Jenner family has always been upfront about turning their name into a “brand,” and this isn’t the first time they’ve pressured family members to change. Rob Kardashian has always struggled with his weight, and he has admitted his family has been less than supportive. And in a recent memoir, Caitlyn Jenner reveals quite a bit about the family and how they operate, especially Kris.
Khloe is no saint
Of course, Khloe has said some brutal things to other celebrities over the years, proving that she can hold her own in any battle. She has said in the past that she has “an animal instinct to protect and defend my family.” Although that doesn’t excuse the hurtful comments her family made to her, clearly this is a woman who can hold her own.
Khloe’s pregnancy and weight fears
Now that Khloe is pregnant with her first child, she’ll obviously have to adjust her workouts and caloric intake, not to mention embrace her new curves. But although she’s scaling back the intensity of her exercising, Khloe is refusing to gain excess pregnancy weight, sticking to her diet as closely as she can, adding more cardio, and staying hydrated. Khloe’s family’s comments may have hurt her, but it seems as if her “revenge body” is here to stay.
