Here’s Why Everyone Suspects Meri Brown From ‘Sister Wives’ Might Leave her Polygamist Family

If you aren’t invested in the polygamist family featured on TLC’s Sister Wives yet, we recommend you begin. The show features Kody Brown, the patriarch of his family, and his relationship with his four wives. While Kody is only legally married to one of his wives, TLC explains he’s “spiritually connected” to them all.

There is one wife that seems different than the rest, however — and that’s Meri Brown. Meri expresses doubts and fears about her relationship with Kody and the other women. And we suspect she may even leave her sister wives behind.

Meri stands as Kody’s first wife, so the two certainly share a special bond. And they also have one child together, Mariah, who’s in her 20s.

According to Meri, the two met through Kody’s sister when she was 19 and he was 22. She was also raised in a polygamist family, so it seemed natural for her to also be in a polygamist marriage of her own. “I married my soulmate when I married Meri,” Kody told TLC. Now, however, that union may be crumbling.

In a typical marriage, divorce means the end of a relationship. But that’s not how it works with the Sister Wives crew. Hollywood Life explains Meri and Kody divorced so Kody could legally marry his younger partner, Robyn. By marrying Robyn, he could legally adopt her three children and officially make them part of the family.

Such a sacrifice makes sense — but we can’t imagine Meri had no feelings about the decision, either. And perhaps it took an even bigger toll on their relationship than she likes to admit.

“I never met this person and I regret being drawn into this situation, but I hope because of it I can help others who find themselves in similar circumstances,” Meri said. And of course, her affair came as quite a shock to the family.

They’ve been together since Meri was a teen, and now, it feels like their relationship is really on the rocks. In Touch Weekly explains one of the biggest issues between the two is that Meri feels like Kody doesn’t want to be physically intimate with her any longer. And according to Meri, she wants more of a relationship with her partner than what’s currently going on.

“Two parties [need to] want to work toward it, I think it’s a lot of work,” Meri said. We’ll have to see if both of them put the necessary work in.

While the Sister Wives cast rarely talk about their jealous feelings, at the end of the day, they are human. And Meri seems particularly susceptible to feelings of envy when it comes to her and the other wives.

The List explains Meri has shared that she feels on the outs with her family frequently. She’s even claimed on one episode that she feels like she’s doing her life without the help of anyone else. And of course, jealousy was most likely a factor in her choice to pursue her online affair.

Christine, another Sister Wives family member, said there are “broken hearts on both sides.” She also mentions every one of their relationships “affects the other 100%,” so it’s extra stressful when such strain is so apparent.
