Pete Davidson’s Net Worth is Surprisingly High for a Comedian in His 20s
Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson is one of the show’s youngest to date, as well as one of the cast members with the most unique, self-defined roles. Davidson consistently uses a self-effacing, almost masochistic style of comedy on the show as he makes fun of his Staten Island origin, mental health, and lack of an ‘official’ role on the show.
SNL aside, Davidson didn’t star or even appear in many films early on — he had a brief cameo in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck before landing SNL — and doesn’t perform stand-up comedy frequently. So many fans are surprised to hear his net worth lands somewhere around half a million dollars. How did he make his money — and how does Davidson’s net worth compare to fiance Ariana Grande’s?
He started his career young
Davidson is the first-ever SNL cast member born in the ’90s. At 16-years-old he performed a stand-up set at a Staten Island bowling alley. He revealed to SF Gate that he hadn’t really prepared, rather his friends dared him to get on stage.
“They knew I always wanted to do it. And then I wasn’t going to do it. And then I smoked a joint and I did it. It went all right. I got the bug where I just needed to be an attention whore for 12 minutes a day every day.”
At age 20 Davidson joined MTV’s Guy Code for a few episodes as well as Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out. Comedy Central aired his stand-up and he performed on late night TV, most notably Jimmy Kimmel Live!
It was Davidson’s cameo in Trainwreck that led him to his SNL fame (and paycheck). Star Bill Hader, a notable SNL alum, introduced Davidson to Lorne Michaels, and the rest was history.
His net worth is approximately $500,000
Which isn’t too shabby for a comedian whose only major credit is Saturday Night Live. Davidson has branched out to a few film opportunities (he had roles in Netflix’s Set It Up and Going Places). Still, fans were surprised to see Davidson spent nearly one-fifth of his finances on Grande’s engagement ring.
Assuming the marriage works out, we doubt the $100 grand ring will really put a dent in Davidson’s budget — if he and Grande share finances, that is. The pop star’s net worth is a reported $45 million, after all.
