These Popular Celebrities May Actually Be Psychopaths

The term “psychopath” may conjure the image of Norman Bates wielding a knife in the infamous shower scene in the iconic film, Psycho. But being a psychopath doesn’t necessarily mean you are also a murderer. In a broad sense, a psychopath is someone who is uncaring, emotionless, insincere, and is overly confident, according to Psychology Today. And yes, violence can be part of that definition.

With that in mind, consider the number of celebrities who work in the industry who could actually be considered to be a psychopath. You’ll never guess who tops the list (Hint: No. 15). Let’s explore, shall we?

1. Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein climbed his way to the top of Hollywood’s elite heap, while callously assaulting women along the way. Threats of retaliation were made against the women as Weinstein believed he was above the law, using flattery and demeaning language with this victims, The New Yorker reports.

2. Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise unabashedly tries to use charm to woo women, while spouting his “expertise” in areas of psychiatry. Actress Leah Remini once referred to Cruise as being “diabolical,” Insider reports.

3. Courtney Love

Courtney Love’s mother Linda Carroll describes her daughter has having rage issues at a young age and is devoid of relationships, according to an interview with Carroll in Psychology Today.

Kim Gordon from 90’s band Sonic Youth said this about Love: “No one ever questions the disorder behind her tarantula LA glamour – sociopathy, narcissism – because it’s good rock and roll, good entertainment!”

4. Randy Quaid

Randy Quaid and wife Evi believed there was a dark, unground organization called Star Whackers, poised to kill them, drain their bank accounts and drive them from their homes, Uproxx reports.

5. Faye Dunaway

The Mommie Dearest star is known to be rude and dismissive to those who serve her. Those who work with Faye Dunaway walk on eggshells for fear of being verbally attacked.

6. Gary Busey

Gary Busey once went off on an 11-year-old junior reporter at the Oscars and started a fistfight over set design, according to Ranker. Busey’s odd behavior also includes kicking another actor in the stomach, spraying an interviewer with a hose, and an incredibly odd red carpet interview he gave during the 2010 Oscars.

7. Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson was a celebrated actor until he went off the deep end in 2006, spewing anti-Semitic remarks following a DUI arrest, Variety reports. He also made vicious and threatening phone calls to former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. 

While Gibson blames alcohol for most of his bad behavior, he asserts it’s unfair to be dogged for a single arrest fueled by alcohol.

8. Sean Young

Sean Young famously stalked ex-boyfriend, actor James Woods when he returned to his fiancée after dating Young for a brief period of time, People reports. She left a mutilated, bloodied doll by his front door, which prompted an FBI investigation.

9. Kevin Spacey

The Daily Beast talked to certified sex therapist Chris Donaghue about whether being treated for a sex addiction is the answer for Kevin Spacey, he said, “What’s really interesting to me about the Spacey situation is that someone who doesn’t have empathy, someone who doesn’t respect boundaries, someone who’s a sexual predator, there’s literally no diagnosis that covers that.”

10. Christian Bale

Christina Bale was arrested for attacking his mother and sister at The Dorchester Hotel in 2008 and was known for having total meltdowns on set. Following this epic tirade on the set of the rebooted Terminator film, Bale has since apologized, saying sometimes his enthusiasm goes awry.

11. Woody Allen

Woody Allen has a longtime history of sexual abuse against his adopted daughter Dylan, The Chicago Tribune reports. Dylan recounted the painful abuse saying, “He’s lying and he’s been lying for so long,” to CNN. Allen is also in denial that he was ever father or step father to wife Soon-Yi.

12. Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell doesn’t seem to respect “the help” as she notoriously threw a cell phone at her housekeeper after she accused the woman of stealing a pair of her jeans, People reports.

An assistant sued her in 2003, saying Campbell threw a phone at her too, plus physically attacked her back in 2001. Since the cell phone throwing incident, Campbell claims to have attended anger management classes and says she was also abusing drugs.

13. Warren Beatty

Hollywood Lothario Warren Beatty is well-known for his “love ‘em and leave ‘em” persona, allegedly sleeping with 12,775 women. Author Peter Biskind described Beatty as, “a depressive, a manipulator, a ‘closet psychopath,’ an endless prevaricator, a brute, an underachiever, a narcissist. His need for control has ruined not just several of his films, but most of his relationships.”

14. Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson notoriously ripped off his opponents ear with his teeth during a boxing match in 1997, Rolling Stone recalls. Although Tyson said “sorry” for the act, he is also known for aggression against women. He beat seven prostitutes while he was on drugs and abused former wife, Robin Givens. Tyson claims he was under the influence of boxing trainer Cus D’Amato, who molded him into “arrogant sociopath,” The New York Post reports.

15. Donald Trump

A number of psychologists assert the president is “a very sick man” who “is suffering from psychopathy and has a mental state that poses an ‘enormous present danger,” according to The Independent.

Donald Trump also callously made a high school shooting in Parkland, Florida about him, tweeting that the FBI missed signals the shooter was mentally unstable because they were too focused on the Russia problem, Newsweek reports.
