Put your child first

Despite her and Christensen’s relationship status, Bilson always tries to put her child first. “No matter what I’m dealing with or how much it hurts or how much anger there is, it’s just about her,” she told People.

Bilson also keeps this tip in mind when it comes to her work. “Anything I choose to do for work has to be something I really want,” she told the magazine.

It’s a work in progress

As for her co-parenting relationship, Bilson also told People “we’re still kind of trying to figure it out,” and called it a “work in progress.”

There is no right way

On top of being a work in progress, Bilson recognizes that she and her ex’s co-parenting relationship isn’t perfect, or necessarily the only way. “I don’t know that there is any right way, necessarily,” she told People.

Stability is key

When it comes to co-parenting, one of Bilson’s biggest concerns and priorities is stability and security. “Most important for me is that Briar is okay and secure and stable,” she told People.

In addition to co-parenting, Bilson also has some mom-friendly tips of her own. Check out her go-to parenting tips, ahead.

Spend time together

Bilson spends a lot of time with her daughter. In fact, she even takes her to set with her when she has to work! While she hasn’t flat out said it, it is clear that Bilson cherishes her time spent with Briar Rose — whether it be playing in a park, drawing, or snuggling up together.

Love unconditionally

On Mother’s Day 2018, Bilson took to Instagram to share her thoughts on motherhood. “Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there who’s alarm clocks are drop kicks to the face,” she wrote. “I wouldn’t trade that wake up call for anything in the entire world,” she added. “Becoming a mother has been the greatest give and now I know the actual meaning of true love.”

Encourage creativity

Another tip Bilson seemingly swears by? Encourage creativity. If you take a look at her Instagram, you’ll see some pictures of her daughter’s artwork.

Buy no-spill bubbles

This last one might not be a parenting tip per say, but it’s certainly some good advice. According to her Instagram, Bilson’s daughter is obsessed with bubbles. That said, bubbles aren’t exactly home friendly. “I feel the need to share what I think are one of the best purchases I’ve made as a mom…” Bilson wrote in a post. “… Fubbles, they are no spill bubbles!!!!!! Seriously they are game changers,” she added.
