Royal Sources Disclose Whether or Not They Think Princess Diana Would Like Meghan Markle
Before Kate Middleton wowed America with her grace and style and before Meghan Markle became our first “American” princess, Princess Diana of Wales set the tone for the label “the people’s princess.”
Princes William and Harrys’ mother was known for her style and grace. More importantly, friends and family members remember her for her affection, sensitivity, humility, wit, and courage, among other admirable traits.
Prince Harry gave Meghan Markle his mother’s ring
Prince Harry made sure his mother was a part of his nuptials with Markle. In addition to the Welsh gold band that the prince placed on her ring finger as they wed, Harry gave Markle an aquamarine cocktail ring. The ring in question belonged to Princess Diana.
People magazine reported that Diana wore the ring to an auction of her own wardrobe at Christie’s in 1997. It’s part of a set that includes a matching bracelet and several strands of pearls. The prince proposed to Markle with an engagement ring made of diamonds from his mother’s personal collection combined with one from Botswana, Africa, where the couple fell in love.
Princess Diana’s former bodyguard revealed what she’d think of Markle
A source who was close to Princess Diana — her bodyguard Ken Wharfe — revealed what he believed Harry’s mother would think of his new wife. “She was the sort of mother who [would think]: ‘If that’s what my son wants, it’s not really for me to make judgments whether that person is right or wrong.'” He believed Princess Diana wouldn’t have to make negative judgments, to begin with, and would have adored Markle.
Wharfe told Australia website Now to Love he believed Diana would have been impressed with both William and Harry refusing to let anyone else influence their choice in wives.
“William and Catherine are clearly unlike any other royal marriage, it’s a relationship that William found himself. No one introduced them, they met at university,” Wharfe said of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Fans drew similarities between Kate Middleton and the late Princess Di
When Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ first son, William, got engaged to the stunning Kate Middleton, it was only a matter of time before the public compared Middleton to Prince William’s late mother. The two shared more than similar styles: Prince William proposed to Middleton with the same sapphire engagement ring his mother once wore.
