Signs Ivana Trump Is Completely Insane
Ivana Trump spent about 15 years as the first wife of Donald Trump, and she’s certainly had plenty to say since his election. From her time in the Trump family to her current views on Trump’s presidency, Ivana hasn’t held back on what her life has been like.
Ivana is known for her controversial statements and lavish spending. But is she completely off her rocker? One thing is for certain — you never know what she’ll say next.
Ivana and Donald Trump’s beginnings
Ivana met Donald in 1976 when she visited a now-closed restaurant called Maxwell’s Plum. There were no tables available, so Donald offered her and her friends seats at his.
‘The good news is, we’re going to get a table real fast. The bad news is, this guy is going to be sitting with us, ” Ivana recalls telling her friends. Donald ended up paying for the meal and taking Ivana home in a limo. They began dating soon after.

Ivana’s resume is impressive
Despite her somewhat outlandish statements and “tell it like it is” demeanor, Ivana is clearly an intelligent woman. She was a talented skier when she was younger, and she holds a Master’s degree in physical education and languages. While she was married to Donald, Ivana became the Vice President of Interior Design for the Trump Organization, designing many of Trump’s buildings, like Trump Tower and the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

The messy divorce
Although they are on seemingly good terms now, Ivana and Donald’s divorce was a scandalous one. After years of hearing rumors about Donald’s affair, Ivana was confronted by Marla Maples, who admitted she was in love with her husband. Although Ivana told Marla to “get lost,” she clearly didn’t, and the Trumps divorced soon after. And that’s when things got messy.
Next: Ivana’s accusations were harsh.
The rape accusation
In 2015, the Daily Beast unearthed claims from a deposition that Donald had raped Ivana during their marriage. The incident was described in the book Lost Tycoon: The Many Lives of Donald J. Trump by Harry Hurt III, which also detailed a violent incident where Donald had pulled out Ivana’s hair.
Ivana went on to deny her claims, stating that she didn’t mean “rape in the criminal sense.” She said that the lawyers had misinterpreted her words and that she was never abused. Donald, of course, denied either incident happened.

The $25 million settlement almost wasn’t enough
Donald and Ivana Trump had a $25 million prenup, but during the divorce, she tried to contest it. The challenge was unsuccessful, but Donald still had to pay her $14 million in cash, $350,000 in annual alimony and $300,000 per year for the support of their three children. Ivana also got a mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut and an apartment in Trump Plaza.
Next: Ivana wasted no time in talking about her divorce.
Talk is (not) cheap
Apparently, one of the terms of the prenuptial agreement was that Ivana would not talk publicly about her divorce from The Donald. But not only did she write a series of books and memoirs, she had a guest role in the 1996 movie The First Wives Club, in which she played herself and had the famous line, “Don’t get mad, get everything.” Donald told Howard Stern he was not happy about it, but he refused to go after the mother of his child.

The $6 million boat lawsuit
Despite Ivana’s large divorce payout, apparently she wasn’t above asking her ex-husband for money. In an old interview with Howard Stern, Donald claimed that Ivana called him constantly and griped that she had just lost $6 million of his money. Ivana was in the midst of a lawsuit with a boat company over a cabin cruiser he had warned her not to buy.
“Now you don’t knock the hell out of it, so now it’s got zero value,” Donald said. “She’s not gonna win the lawsuit, it’s got zero value.”
When Stern’s co-host, Robin Quivers, asked if Ivana was a good businesswoman, Donald said, “So she lost $6 million of my money, and I’m not happy about it.”

She might think of herself as the First Lady
While promoting her book, Raising Trump, which was released in October 2017, Ivana referred to herself as the “real first lady.”
“I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that, because I’m basically first Trump wife. OK? I’m first lady,” she said.
Next: Ivana started a feud with Melania.
The first lady feud
Ivana’s “first lady” comments started a feud with the true First Lady, Melania Trump, whose spokesperson called the comments “attention seeking and self-serving noise.” Rather than let those comments go, Ivana chose to respond, saying that Melania “went bananas.”
“I said: ‘I’m first Trump lady’ … and first lady went bananas over it,” Ivana said on The Ray D’Arcy Show.
Next: Ivana seems to be disillusioned over who the President will be, not just her position as First Lady.
Ivana thinks Ivanka may run for President
Ivana is very proud of her children, who contribute passages to her book, Raising Trump. In fact, Ivana seems to think Ivanka has a real shot at becoming the President one day.
“Maybe in 15 years, she could run for president?” she wrote about Ivanka, before contemplating her own possible title. “First Lady? Holds no appeal for me personally. First Mother? That could work.”

Was Ivana actually offered a job in this administration?
Not only does Ivana claim to have no interest in the role of First Lady, she has said that Donald offered her a position as U.S. ambassador to the Czech Republic (where she grew up) … and she turned it down.
“Donald called me and he said, ‘If you want to take the position, I [will] give it to you.’ I said, ‘Donald, no. I want my freedom,’” Ivana said.
Next: Insane or not, Ivana doesn’t forgive and forget.
Ivana has refused to forgive Marla Maples
Marla has said she hopes Ivana can forgive her for her affair with Donald now that more than two decades have passed. But it seems that time hasn’t healed all of Ivana’s wounds.
“She asked to apologize to me in the Daily Mail in London. They asked if I accepted the apology and I said no. Why should I? She broke my marriage!” Ivana said, also referring to Marla as “a showgirl with no talent.”

Ivana has admitted she encourages Donald to tweet
Even Donald Trump’s most staunch supporters have admitted that he should cut back on his Twitter time. But Ivana admitted that she encourages him to tweet.
“He asks me about, ‘Should I tweet? Should I not tweet?’” she said. “I said, ‘I think you should tweet.’”
Next: Her romantic relationships haven’t exactly been stable.
Ivana’s post-Donald dating life
After her divorce from Donald, Ivana married Italian businessman Riccardo Mazzuccelli in 1995. The marriage was over by 1997. She went on to marry a much younger Italian actor, Rossano Rubicondi, in 2008. That marriage only lasted a year, although they were romantically linked for many years after. Ivana told Oprah she has “this thing for Italians.”
Next: Are Donald and Ivana actually a match made in heaven?
Perhaps neither Trump is insane, or perhaps they both are
Some people have questioned Donald’s sanity in recent years, which prompted his “stable genius” comments. Perhaps these two exes are just very good friends who sometimes say outlandish things … or maybe they’re both a little unstable.
