Signs That Reveal Exactly What Kind of Married Couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will Be

Now that the wedding is over and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their fans and admirers nationwide wait to find out how their marriage will progress.

Despite the fact they’ve only been married a month at this point, there are a few telling signs that indicate what kind of married couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be. Plus, the one thing they made evident about their relationship from the start (page 7).

1. Prince Harry worked on their honeymoon

The two lovebirds didn’t plan to stay cooped up for long: the Duchess of Sussex herself said earlier this year she planned to “hit the ground running” with work once she and Harry married. “The couple will be going on a honeymoon, but not straight away,” Kensington Palace spokesman Jason Knauf reportedly said. “They will have their first engagement … in the week after the wedding.”

Sure enough, mid-honeymoon, Harry made an announcement about the fifth Invictus Games via the Kensington Palace Twitter account. The games, which seek to motivate injured servicemen and women, are the site of Harry and Meghan’s first official appearance together.

2. Meghan got Harry to quit smoking

  • She also encouraged him to give up his partying lifestyle and eat healthier

At first glance, the two seem like polar opposites. Meghan is the proponent of a healthy, semi-vegan diet and a self-dubbed yogi, while the prince was notorious for partying and had no known diet. It seems marriage truly did bring out the best in these two, however, since Meghan was able to convince Harry to give up some of his bad habits.

“Harry has lost weight, started a healthier diet and even gave up smoking cigarettes,” a source told People. “Meghan encouraged Harry to get rid of any remnants of his party lifestyle … They both worked hard to be the healthiest they could be before they got married.”

“You know, one step at a time,” Harry cautioned a reporter during a post-engagement interview; “Hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future.” It turns out that the “near future” is closer than many anticipated, sources close to the couple reveal.

“Having children is definitely a priority,” one of Meghan’s close friends revealed. A royal insider echoed the friend’s sentiment. “They both can’t wait to start a family.” The royal insider said the two have busy schedules but plan to go for it “when the moment feels right.”

  • Meghan Markle will ride the official Royal Train
  • Princes William and Harry and even Kate Middleton reportedly haven’t been on it

It looks like Meghan is wasting no time cozying up to her new grandmother-in-law. She and the Queen are participating in the Trooping the Colour festivities this weekend and then will take a day trip together in Chester, about 165 miles northwest of London, next week.

So far we know that Meghan and the Queen plan to attend a lunch together and unveil a bridge. The exclusive detail that reveals Meghan plans to integrate herself into the family? Queen Elizabeth is taking her to Chester on the Royal Train, a nine-carriage vehicle that is only available to the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Camilla.

5. They’ll eat in a fair amount

  • Meghan eats plant-based for the most part
  • The two love to cook together

We aren’t sure how Meghan’s diet fits in with the traditional English fare of Shepherd’s pie and fish and chips, but luckily she gives herself “a little bit more flexibility” with what she eats on the weekends. The former actress is a fan of “lifestyle eating” and eats vegan throughout the week.

It’s a good thing the couple loves to cook. They were making Meghan’s special — a roast chicken — the night Harry proposed. “There is nothing as delicious (or as impressive) as a perfectly roasted chicken,” she told Good Housekeeping. “It’s a game changer. I bring that to dinner parties and make a lot of friends.”

  • Royals are in demand by the public and the media
  • Meghan and Harry are already using unique tactics to sneak away and avoid the cameras

Kensington Palace is a tourist hotspot for photos and hopeful royal sitings. What many forget is that the royal family lives in there and can’t just step outside for a breath of fresh air, lest they want to incite a fan frenzy. According to recent reports and this video, Meghan and Harry take a helicopter from Hyde Park to their destination.

They have to time their entrances and exits and move quickly to avoid being spotted by the masses. The family relies on chauffers and armed guards to help them move from point A to the helicopter (point B).

7. One thing for sure: they won’t be traditional

  • Meghan marked a lot of firsts for the royal family
  • Their unconventional royal engagement will likely affect their marriage

We’ve known from the start that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were an untraditional royal pair — Meghan is the first American woman of color to marry into the royal family, was an actress, and is a divorcee.

It looks like the couple plans to continue doing things their own, unique way well into their royal marriage. Unlike Kate and Prince William, Harry and Meghan didn’t marry at Buckingham Palace and therefore couldn’t share the traditional wedding day kiss on the balcony.
