Stormy Daniels’ Interview Reveals Intimate Details About Her Short-Lived Relationship With Donald Trump
There has been so much speculation regarding the alleged affair between Stormy Daniels and Donald Trump that it’s often difficult to tell the difference between rumors and the truth. Thankfully, Daniels (whose real name is Stephanie Clifford) went on 60 Minutes, where she was able to clear up a lot of hearsay and tell her side of the story.
The interview, conducted by Anderson Cooper, aired on March 25. And now that we know some of the details, we’re still left wondering if this woman from Trump’s past will end up being his downfall.
First, to address the major issue: They did sleep together, but only once
Daniels confirmed she met Trump in 2006 and spent an evening with him in his hotel room, which eventually turned sexual. But here’s where one rumor was shot down: Daniels said that although she and Trump kept in touch, they only had sex once.
Next: This story seems (only slightly) less creepy now that it has been explained.
The magazine spanking story is true … and it broke the ice
One of the most salacious pieces of gossip surrounding this encounter was the rumor that Daniels spanked Trump with a magazine that featured him on the cover. Daniels confirmed it was true, but she explained how it happened. According to Daniels, it all started because Trump wouldn’t stop talking about himself.
“And he’s like, ‘Have you seen my new magazine?’ … And so I was like, ‘Does this … does this normally work for you?'” Daniels said, noting that Trump seemed taken aback with her boldness. She added, “Someone should take that magazine and spank you with it.” She teasingly spanked Trump a few times with the magazine, and after that, she said the conversation between them felt much more authentic and normal.
Next: This is the creepiest part of the entire story.
Yes, he did compare her to Ivanka
During Trump and Daniels’ encounter in the hotel room, she says Trump did compare her, the woman he was about to have sex with, to his daughter.
“He was like, ‘Wow, you — you are special. You remind me of my daughter,'” Daniels said. “You know — he was like, ‘You’re smart and beautiful, and a woman to be reckoned with, and I like you. I like you.'”
Next: Turns out, Daniels wasn’t looking forward to sleeping with Trump.
She wasn’t attracted to the POTUS
Daniels said during her interview that she wasn’t attracted to Trump at all and didn’t really want to have sex with him. At one point during the evening, she excused herself to use the restroom. When she returned, he was “posing” on the bed, and she thought, “Ugh, here we go.” She felt like she “had it coming” for going to someone’s room alone and putting herself in a bad situation.
Daniels was also quick to stress that the sex with Trump was consensual, that she didn’t say no and that she is not a victim.
Next: For an alleged germaphobe, Trump wasn’t very careful with Daniels.
Trump did not wear a condom
Despite the fact that he was a married man with a newborn son when he slept with Daniels, she said he didn’t use a condom during their encounter. The other woman who has come forward about an affair, Karen McDougal, said they never used condoms, either.
Next: Many people wonder why Daniels didn’t speak up sooner.
Daniels felt pressured to keep quiet
Daniels said Trump himself never asked her to keep anything quiet, and in 2011, she told her story, although it was never published and she was never paid. When Cooper pointed out that she could have gotten a lot of money for going public (probably much more than the $130,000 in hush money she was given), she said:
“I turned down a large payday multiple times because one, I didn’t wanna kiss and tell and be labeled all the things that I’m being labeled now. I didn’t wanna take away from the legitimate and legal, I’d like to point out, career that I’ve worked very hard to establish. And most importantly, I did not want my family and my child exposed to all the things that she’s being exposed to right now. Because everything that I was afraid of coming out has come out anyway, and guess what? I don’t have a million dollars.”
She also said she felt pressured by Trump’s legal team to take the payout, sign the agreement, and keep quiet. She was told they could “make her life hell in many ways” if she didn’t.
Next: This troubling incident also had Daniels scared to speak up.
Her life was threatened when her daughter was a baby
Perhaps the most disturbing part of the interview was when Daniels cleared up the rumor that she’d been threatened. Daniels said she was in Las Vegas in a parking lot, taking her infant daughter out of her car seat, when a man approached her.
“… a guy walked up on me and said to me, ‘Leave Trump alone. Forget the story.’ And then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, ‘That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.’ And then he was gone.”
Daniels admits she was rattled by the incident, but she didn’t go to the police because she was scared.
Next: Here’s how the president and first lady are handling things.
Silence from the POTUS and first lady
For as much as Trump tweets about, well, everything, he’s remained curiously silent about this incident and has never mentioned Daniels by name. Melania has also refused to comment, although this news could be very telling: On the day the interview aired, Trump flew home from Palm Springs, while Melania and Barron stayed behind. Officials claim this is a spring break tradition for Barron, but we’ll see what the future holds.
