The Chilling Reason Tori Spelling Spoke to the Cops 4 Times in 9 Days
March 2018 is probably a month that TV star Tori Spelling would like to forget. Amid rumors of marital struggles and alleged meltdowns, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum was in contact with the police a whopping four times within a nine day span.
Here’s a look at what transpired, and the reason Tori Spelling is in the position she’s in (page 6).
How did this all start?
Spelling’s tumultuous marriage to Dean McDermott is certainly one source of her erratic behavior. McDermott reportedly spends days away from the couple’s Southern California home. When he is around, McDermott and Spelling constantly fight and even sleep in different rooms. It’s also reported that his presence leads to fights, causing Spelling to break down.
Next: His absence also led to …
The first 911 call
As it turns out, Spelling was actually the one to call the cops in the first place. According to TMZ, police received a late night phone call from Spelling, in which she frantically claimed that someone was breaking into her house. However, it turned out to be McDermott coming home from somewhere.
Next: Then, just a day later …
The second call
Police received a second call on March 1 because of a reported disturbance at Spelling’s home. LAPD officer Rosario Herrera told People that police were dispatched following a call that a “domestic situation” had broken out at the home, and Spelling was thought to be mentally unstable. An LAPD spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight that Spelling “literally was hysterical and, sadly, the kids were home and everyone was scared.”

Doctor’s office drama
Just a week later, police were dispatched again because of Spelling. This time McDermott placed the phone call, saying that Spelling had left their house with one of their kids and that he was worried about her well-being. (It’s still unclear exactly what Spelling did to make him worry.) According to TMZ, three police units were dispatched and surrounded a doctor’s office in Thousand Oaks, California, where Spelling was located. After Spelling exited the building, it was determined that she was fine.
Next: But wait, there’s more …
After a week full of calls to the authorities, Spelling put up a united front as she and her husband went out to dinner with their five kids. But instead of a calm family meal, Spelling and company saw the cops yet again. Hollywood Life reports that police arrived at the Black Bear Diner in Tarzana, California, and watched as Spelling and McDermott had what appeared to be a very serious conversation inside. Both talked to the authorities before dinner was cut short, and the family was escorted out the back of the restaurant.
Next: The big question is …
What’s the reason for all this is happening?
Tori Spelling’s meltdowns and subsequent police encounters can be attributed to the stressors she deals with on a daily basis. Spelling has come forward saying she is overwhelmed by taking care of five young children. That’s on top of dealing with a difficult marriage and severe financial upheaval that has left her begging her estranged mother, Candy, for money. What’s chilling about her situation is she has said she would consider have a sixth child with McDermott.
Next: Is she getting any help?
Is she getting support from her peers?
Yes and no. Spelling appears to be getting support from friends like fellow 90210 alum Jennie Garth. But it also appears that she had become the butt of jokes in the TV world. Reality TV star Jeff Lewis took a shot at her financial woes — on social media, no less! — just days after Spelling’s many police encounters. It’s anyone’s guess how she is being perceived by the rest of Hollywood while she goes through breakdowns and turmoil.
Next: Was her current marriage doomed from the beginning?
Spelling’s marriage was off to a questionable start from the beginning
McDermott wasn’t Spelling’s first husband. As you may recall, the star was married to Charlie Shahnaian when she met McDermott on a film set. She’d only been married a year before she pursued an affair with the actor — and Shahnaian found out about the incident in a tabloid first, Heavy reports.
McDermott ended his decade-long marriage for Spelling as well. And though things seemingly worked out for Spelling in the end, she had a breakdown when she sat with her ex-husband on her reality show, True Tori. “I regret the way I handled things obviously. He’s a good man,” she tearfully said.

McDermott jeopardized their relationship when he had an affair
McDermott didn’t just have an affair with his first wife — he also cheated on Spelling once before. People reports Spelling was celebrating the holidays with their children while McDermott was having an affair. And she even created her reality show, True Tori, to document how her and her husband could work through the tough time together.
Even more shocking, E! News reports Spelling found out about the affair after 28-year-old Emily Goodman came forward with the truth. It turns out Goodman and McDermott had a two-day fling in Toronto when he was visiting.
Next: Spelling also had to help her husband out with his finances in this shocking way.
And McDermott’s ex-wife reveals Spelling’s been paying his spousal support
On top of the rest of the couple’s money woes, Spelling was also reportedly paying McDermott’s alimony payments, Us Weekly reports. Mary Jo Eustace, McDermott’s ex-wife, said McDermott was supposed to help pay her teenage son’s rent. But when his rent checks were bouncing, it raised red flags for Eustace.
“Tori reached out to me and basically said that she would be covering the alimony because Dean didn’t have any money,” Eustace recalled. Unfortunately, Spelling fell back on those payments as well, which certainly led to some tension.
Next: What’s in store for the couple in the future?
Will the couple make it work after all?
As one source told Us Weekly, “You would think the cheating, money problems and constant arguing would be enough for Tori to decide to divorce Dean, but she refuses to even discuss it.” It seems Spelling doesn’t want to be seen as a “failure” in the eyes of her peers, which is perhaps what she believes may happen if she leaves her husband.
As of now, Spelling’s mother is picking up the financial burdens the couple can’t keep up with. And the publication notes she’s also discussed the possibility of having a sixth child, even with her current issues. There’s no doubt friends and family are worried about her future.
