Golden Globe-winning actress Kate Hudson surprised her social media following with the announcement that she is expecting a baby. And of course, the 39-year-old actress broke the news in the most adorable way possible. Here’s a look at her relationship with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa, and the super sweet way they revealed that they’re having a baby.
Remember, this isn’t Hudson’s first
First baby, that is. The Almost Famous actress welcomed her eldest Ryder into the world in 2004 while still married to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson. In 2011, Hudson had her second son Bingham with then-partner, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.
Next: And as for her new beau …
Enter: Danny Fujikawa
According to Hello Giggles, the musician and record label owner met Hudson nearly 15 years ago, when she was pregnant with her first child! He’s also step-brother to actress sisters Erin and Sarah Foster, who Hudson is reportedly good friends with.
Next: So naturally, the next question is …
How long have the two been dating?
According to Hudson’s Instagram, the two went on their first date in early 2017. Fujikawa allegedly invited her on a hike. Hudson tells fans that she thought she was going on “a hike with a family friend” but that she later realized that it was “an unexpected first date.”
Next: So they’re dating, but …
Were they planning on having a baby?
Hudson and Fujikawa were reportedly trying to get pregnant. But as People reports, they were trying to keep the news under the radar for as long as they could. “We’ve been trying to keep this pregnancy under the radar for as long as possible but I’m a-poppin’ now!” Hudson exclaims in her Instagram reveal.
Next: But that’s not the only reason she made the announcement.
The real reason they broke the news
Apparently, Hudson was so sick her first trimester that she literally dropped off all of her social media channels. “Boomerangs have made me nauseous, Superzoom is an easy way to have my head in the toilet, food Instagrams make me queezy [sic] and thinking too much about Insta stories made me even more exhausted than I already had been,” she says in her announcement post.
Next: Speaking of the post …
Hudson’s adorable announcement
The best part of Kate Hudson’s pregnancy announcement is the video that accompanies her Instagram message. In it, she stands on a lawn surrounded by family and friends with large black balloons. The balloons are popped, giving way to an explosion of pink confetti to signify that she’s having a girl.
Next: So naturally, our final question is …
When’s the baby due?
Hudson did not reveal in her Instagram post when her third child and first daughter is due. But since she mentioned that she’s through her first trimester, it’s likely that the baby will arrive in early fall of 2018.
