The Real Reason Bill Cosby’s Wife Remained Supportive Amidst Claims of Sexual Assault
Comedian Bill Cosby was convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault, a charge that carries up to 30 years in prison according to People. The verdict comes after several years of accusations from a bevy of women, most recounting times when they were drugged and raped at the comedian’s hands.
As each woman stepped forward, Bill’s wife Camille stalwartly stood by her man, often silently but in solidarity. Following the recent verdict, Camille forcefully made her case as to why she still supports her husband with possibly the real reason revealed on page 7.
1. Their cohesive bond extends for decades
The couple has been married for 54 years. This is highly unusual especially for Hollywood standards. Camille and Bill hugged, talked, and kissed before the verdict was read, People reports.
Next: The Cosby family experienced considerable tragedy.
2. The couple has endured considerable loss during their marriage
Two of the five Cosby children have died, according to Daily Mail. Ennis Cosby was murdered in 1997 during a robbery and most recently Ensa died of renal failure at age 44. Both children are buried at the Cosby compound in Massachusetts.

3. Their relationship extends beyond marriage
Camille is Bill’s longtime manager, representing him before he became famous, according to The Daily Beast. She credits her efforts in making him a star and asserted that those who lined up to discredit her husband are taking a jab at her too. “I created him, I knew what I was getting and we’ll fix this,” she said at a meeting at her home in Massachusetts, The Daily Beast recounts.
Next: While she stands by her man, she does admit to this.
4. She isn’t totally in the dark
Camille admits that her husband cheated on her, The New York Post reports. “Camille still doesn’t believe that Bill provided drugs and had sex with women without their consent,” a Cosby insider told The New York Post. “She’s well aware of his cheating, but she doesn’t believe that her husband is a rapist.”
Next: This is why she stands with her husband.
5. But this may be why she doesn’t believe the verdict
From the beginning Camille blamed the media for creating a circus of distrust around her husband. “Once again, an innocent person has been found guilty based on an unthinking, unquestioning, unconstitutional frenzy propagated by the media and allowed to play out in a supposed court of law,” according to a statement released shortly after the verdict was delivered. “This is mob justice, not real justice. This tragedy must be undone not just for Bill Cosby, but for the country.”
Next: She also believes this is playing a part too.
6. Camille made this powerful assertion too
She referenced a number of injustices hurled against African American men like Emmett Till and Darryl Hunt, both falsely accused and convicted. She stated: “These are just two of many tragic instances of our justice system utterly and routinely failing to protect African Americans falsely accused in so-called courts of law and the entirely unfair court of public opinion.”
Next: But this may be the real reason she can’t quit Bill Cosby.
7. She still sees her husband like this
She knew her husband cheated on her, but stayed with him because she loves him. “The man I met, and fell in love with, and whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work,” according to her 2014 statement, People recounts. “He is a kind man, a generous man, a funny man, and a wonderful husband, father and friend. He is the man you thought you knew.”
