The Sickening Reason Why Elon Musk Called His Father a ‘Terrible Human Being’

Elon Musk, CEO and chairman of Tesla, has enjoyed a successful career. However, his personal life has been full of drama. Things got so strange between him and his father, Errol Musk, you could probably use their relationship as a storyline in a soap opera.

Here’s the sickening reason why Elon Musk called his father a “terrible human being.”

Who is Errol Musk?

Errol Musk is the father of Elon, Kimbal, and Tosca Musk. He is also the new father to a son named Elliot, who was born in 2017. The circumstances under which Errol fathered this child has raised plenty of eyebrows (we’ll get to that later). In addition, he is a pilot, sailor, and engineer, reports Forbes Africa. His former wife (Elon’s mother) is Maye Musk, a model and dietician.

Elon and Errol have such a strained relationship that they haven’t spoken to each other in a long time. The CEO is apparently not a fan of his father. He and his first wife, Justine, promised each other that their children would not be allowed to meet Errol, according to Ashlee Vance, author of the book Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.

An unsettling story

If you think your family is strange and dramatic, you might just change your mind after hearing what Elon Musk’s father did. Errol Musk spoke to The Sunday Times of London about fathering a child with his stepdaughter. But, wait, there’s more. Errol’s stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout, is 40 years younger than him. Jana was just four years old when Errol married her mother. Yep, just let that sink in. But this isn’t why Elon thought his father was so terrible.

In a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, Elon described what he said was a “miserable” childhood. He said things began to get rocky between him and his father after his parents divorced. Elon initially felt sorry for his father, because he seemed so sad, but he eventually changed his mind. He decided to move in with his father after the divorce but said he regretted it soon after.

In that same Rolling Stone interview, Elon discussed what life was like with his dad. According to Elon, his father was capable of “evil.” He also claims his father committed almost every kind of crime imaginable. “He was such a terrible human being. You have no idea. My dad will have a carefully thought-out plan of evil,” he said. “He will plan evil.”

Hurtful words

Elon also claims his father was verbally abusive to him when he was younger. According to him, Errol had no faith in his ability to make something of his life and be successful. Elon says after he left college and moved to Canada, he received disapproval from his father. “He said rather contentiously that I’d be back in three months, that I’m never going to make it, that I’m never going to make anything of myself. He called me an idiot all the time. That’s the tip of the iceberg, by the way,” Elon told Rolling Stone.

Errol’s response

Errol was not thrilled about Elon’s revelation. He told Daily Mail that Elon “should grow up.” He also said he was not going to fight back, but that he would wait for his son to realize he is wrong. Said Errol in his Daily Mail interview, “He needs to get over himself. I’m not going to hit back. I’m going to wait until he comes to his senses. He’s having a tantrum, like a spoilt child. He can’t have what he wants and now I am apparently an evil monster.”

A criminal?

In an interview with Daily Mail, Errol confirmed he indeed had a brush with the law. He told the publisher that he killed three men who broke into his home. Errol was charged with manslaughter for shooting and killing the men. However, he was later acquitted after pleading self-defense.

Elon Musk doesn’t have such a great relationship with his father. However, he told Rolling Stone there are some good things he inherited from his father. “I’m naturally good at engineering. That’s because I inherited it from my father,” he told the magazine. “What’s very difficult for others is easy for me. For a while, I thought things were so obvious that everyone must know this,” said Elon.
