The couple wed at an overseas venue in Italy. Phan wore a ceremony dress and a separate reception dress both designed by Claire Pettibone. And Scott and his groomsmen wore kilts during the ceremony but changed into tuxes for the reception.

The couple tied the knot in front of about 300 guests. The guests flew in from places, including the United States, Canada, Scotland, and Latin America. The couple had a choreographed first dance to surprise their guests. Plus, with that many people came the need for a large cake. According to People, Scott and Phan’s cake had four different flavors to please everyone at the reception: red velvet, carrot, chocolate hazelnut, and vanilla with goat cheese and strawberry balsamic.

Because guests were flying all the way to Italy for the event, there were plenty of things for them to do in the days leading up to the wedding. There were bachelor and bachelorette excursions that included a bicycle tour and cooking classes. The couple also held a welcome party for the guests. It was Apulian-style (Apulia is a region in Italy) and featured artisan booths, such as cheese and pasta making.

The couple decided not to have a wedding registry. As an alternative, they partnered with a favorite charity of theirs, ME to WE. The couple gave out custom pizza cutters and plates to their guests that also are available to purchase on Amazon. The money from the purchases will be donated to the #WeMovement charity, which provides clean water to those who need it.

And it looks like they stayed true to their word. “We’re going to Ecuador with WE,” Scott said of his honeymoon, according to People. “We went to Kenya with them last year on a trip and we want to do the same thing in Ecuador.”
