There have been whispers about the state of Melania and Donald Trump’s marriage ever since she was seen scowling during Donald’s inauguration in January 2017. And divorce rumors started flying after Melania was seen swatting Donald’s hand away.
If Melania and Donald were to get divorced, what would be the first thing she would do? Let’s take few guesses about the kind of life the first lady would live if she and the president parted ways.
Here are some things we think Melania would do immediately if she divorced Donald. Don’t miss the absolute first thing she’d do under No. 1 (page 7).
7. Start dating again
Melania and Donald met in 1998 and got married in 2005. After spending so many years together, it’s likely she would want to get out and meet some new people. Melania told People she wasn’t all that impressed when she first met Donald. One thing we know from the People interview is that Melania is not looking for a ladies’ man. She said that’s one thing about Donald she didn’t like.

6. Write a book
One popular item on the to-do list of former Trump employees and wives is to write a book. Ivana Trump, Donald’s first wife, wrote several books. Her most recent, Raising Trump, was released in 2017. Marla Maples, Donald’s second wife, also wrote a book but its release was blocked. Maples signed a non-disclosure agreement regarding the couple’s relationship, and it required approval from Donald for a book to be published. Donald didn’t approve, so the book was scrapped, reports Page Six.

5. Relaunch her jewelry and skin care lines
Although Melania spent much of her time as a model, she is also a businesswoman. Another thing she might consider is relaunching her jewelry and skin care lines. Melania launched her jewelry line on QVC in 2010, but as of this writing, items from her collection are no longer sold through the company. She mentioned in an interview with Fox Business that she is looking to expand her businesses, so it wouldn’t be surprising if she decided to launch another company or relaunch her current one soon after leaving Donald.

4. Visit her home country
Family is very important to Melania Trump. In an article for GQ magazine, friends and neighbors talk about how close her family in Slovenia is. Her family is admired and spoken of highly. Melania might want to go back home, possibly with her son, Barron, so she can reconnect with her relatives. In 2017, Slovenian President Borut Pahor invited the Trumps to Slovenia and the Trumps accepted, reports CNN.

3. Throw a divorce party
Divorce parties are becoming more common these days, so the first lady might also think about celebrating her singleness with a few friends and some good food. It has probably been a long time since she attended a party where she is able to let her hair down and just have fun. She first met Donald at a party, so it might be a good way to come full circle by celebrating the end of the relationship with a party.
Next: Time to get away.
2. Take a vacation
When things get tough, Melania takes a vacation. Melania made headlines when she disappeared and took a Florida vacation amidst the Stormy Daniels rumors. She stayed at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida and then Trump joined her later. If things don’t work out between the couple, she might decide to hop on a plane and take a long vacation.
Next: Home sweet home.
1. Move back to New York City
Melania had a very comfortable life in Trump Tower. She says she delayed moving into the White House so Barron could finish the school year, but another reason could have been that she was more comfortable at home. If she and Donald divorced, it’s possible she could remain in Trump Plaza. Donald’s first wife, Ivana, received a Trump Plaza apartment (and the couple’s Greenwich, Connecticut, mansion) as part of their divorce settlement.
