This Is the Real Reason No One Likes Jared Kushner

These days, it seems like Jared Kushner is almost as much of a household name as Donald Trump. As the president’s senior political adviser (for now), he’s taken a lot of heat — and not just from those opposed to his strategies and beliefs.

As his wife, Ivanka Trump is Jared Kushner’s No. 1 fan. But she actually might be his only fan. Kushner seems to be disliked by people of all political beliefs and, curiously, those who subscribe to his Jewish faith. Let’s find out why.

Is it his hypocrisy?

Kushner is the senior political adviser to a Republican president, but he and his family have donated to Democrats in the past. In fact, many of his closest friends assumed he was a Democrat. And now, they aren’t sure where he stands. But considering he’s credited for helping to elect Donald Trump, they’re not too pleased with him.

Is it his vengefulness?

In 2005, Jared Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner, went to prison for tax fraud, witness tampering, and illegal campaign donations. Chris Christie, who was then the attorney general of New Jersey, launched the criminal investigation that brought down Charles Kushner.

It seems that Jared Kushner has been trying to avenge his father ever since, according to Cosmopolitan. Christie reportedly was being considered for Trump’s running mate, but Jared Kushner pushed him to ask Mike Pence instead. Later, Christie was put in charge of Trump’s transition team, but Jared Kushner made sure he was ousted from that role, as well.

Is it the whole Russia thing?

The expanding federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election has not been flattering for Jared Kushner. Revelations about Kushner’s Russia contacts have been coming out for months, forcing Trump’s aides who denied or downplayed them to backtrack. This hasn’t helped his popularity with liberals or Trump-supporting conservatives.

Is it his perceived coldness toward his wife?

This may seem like a petty reason to dislike Kushner in comparison to the others, but some wonder about the authenticity of his marriage. They’re both workaholics, and Ivanka Trump has said many of their “date nights” involve work. There were also reports that Kushner repeatedly refused to take her hand at their wedding ceremony.

The truth is, he comes across as dishonest and self-serving

Kushner has been famously late to disclose his business ties with foreigners in his application for security clearance he has yet to receive. He had pre-inauguration meetings with Russia. He isn’t clear on where his personal politics lie. And he got revenge on Christie for simply doing his job.

Kushner clearly doesn’t come across as an honest man.

Many Jewish people find him appalling

In September 2017, Batya Ungar-Sargon wrote a scathing op-ed published in Forward, a Jewish newspaper. He called out Kushner for perpetuating many of the negative Jewish stereotypes, and he didn’t hold back.

“For this reason, we Jews — apart from a proud cohort of Orthodox Jews who moulded him — tend to hate our most famous avatar even more than non-Jewish Americans hate him, and with a passion no Jew has elicited in recent memory,” Ungar-Sargon penned. Ouch.

His brother loves him despite their differences

Jared Kushner does have one somewhat unlikely defender: His brother, Joshua Kushner, who is a lifelong Democrat and defender of the Affordable Care Act. Joshua Kushner has maintained a warm relationship with his brother despite their differences. This could mean there’s a different side to the president’s senior political adviser — or it could mean family loyalty trumps everything for the Kushners.
