Who is Karl Cook? Everything to Know About Kaley Cuoco’s New Husband
Kaley Cuoco wasn’t sure if she’d ever find love again. Following her September 2015 split from her first husband, Ryan Sweeting, she admitted that her feelings about marriage completely changed. Fast forward to June 30, 2018, and Cuoco has finally married the man of her dreams: Karl Cook.
But who is her new husband, anyway? Here’s everything you need to know about Cook, from his admirable career to his relationship with Cuoco’s ex.
He’s an equestrian
Cook has been riding horses since he was only 8 years old, and now, he’s quite the accomplished equestrian. According to PopSugar, “In 2016 he won first place in both the $25,500 SmartPak Grand Prix and the $15,000 UltrOz Jumper.” Considering Cuoco has been riding horses since she was 15 years old, we can see why they hit it off when meeting at a horse show.
In a 2016 interview on The Talk, Cuoco gushed about why she definitely feels like destiny pushed them together. “I finally found my horse guy. It was very meant to be. He’s an amazing rider, amazing equestrian and a great human.” She added, “We shared a passion for horses and dogs … It’s been lovely.”
It’s a good thing Cook didn’t quit riding horses when he almost did, or he and Cuoco may not have ever crossed paths. According to E! News, Cook nearly gave up when his career was suffering in 2012. He reportedly “started backsliding” and “couldn’t get back in the groove.”
However, he stuck with it. “It sounds silly, but I didn’t know how to do anything else,” Cook told The Chronicle of the Horse. “I really didn’t want to go to school, so it was either that and be very unhappy, or really get after riding.”
He comes from a wealthy family
Cook may not be a celebrity, but he did grow up quite wealthily. Both of his parents were majorly successful. Not only did his mother, Signe Ostby, launch a software startup in 1982, but she co-founded the Wisconsin School of Business’s Center for Brand and Product Management.
In 1983, his father, Scott Cook, founded the finance software firm, Intuit. According to PopSugar, his father has a net worth of $3.1 billion — which Cuoco’s new husband is set to inherit.
Riding horses isn’t Cook’s only passion. According to a 2010 interview with Phelps Sports, he has an artistic side, as well. “I enjoy photography and whenever I take a trip anywhere I usually take my camera with me,” he said.
“I am also into making bowls, cups, tables and many other things on a wood lathe. I call it ‘lazy turning,’” he explained. “Instead of having to move a carving tool around and care into wood I just sit there and hold a tool under the wood as the machine turns the wood.”
He proposed to Cuoco after two years of dating
Cook and Cuoco dated for two years before he popped the question. In November 2017, the pair officially became engaged. Both shared the special moment on social media, and the captions were amazingly sweet.
In Cuoco’s Instagram post, she wrote, “Still crying,” with a diamond ring emoji. “Every part of this night has been perfection just like you @mrtankcook I love you forever!”
Cook shared a video of the two slow dancing on Instagram. He captioned the post, “In life, there is nothing like dancing right after getting engaged.” He continued, “The purity and grace of the moment are inexplicable, it is truly as though life were a balloon bouncing on the smoothest zephyr. Honey; all I want is to be a balloon bouncing, bobbing, and flowing through life together. You are my everything @normancook.”
He gets along with her ex
What’s better than the fact that Cook gets along with Cuoco’s ex, Johnny Galecki? Her Big Bang Theory co-star, who she dated for about two years before breaking up in 2010, was a guest at their wedding.
Galecki even shared the sweetest congratulations, sharing in a post on Instagram, “Couldn’t be happier for my fake wife @normancook and @mrtankcook whose words brought us all to tears last night. So much love for you both.”
