The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO) reports that Coca-Cola FEMSA (NYSE:KOF) has been successfully linked with Grupo Fomento Queretano’s beverage division. The deal has been approved by the Comisin Federal de Competencia, which is the Mexican antitrust authority, and of course The Coca-Cola Company itself.
Pfizer Inc.’s (NYSE:PFE) tofacitinib treatment gets bad news from the FDA, ahead of its arthritis advisory committee meeting scheduled for May 9. An agency staff note says that it’s impossible to make definitive conclusions concerning the treatment effect of tofacitinib on radiographic outcomes and that documented treatment benefits on the short term clinical outcome measures might not be adequately assure that benefits will be seen in terms of structural damage progression. Further, study data suggest that the tofacitinib treatment might be associated with an increased risk of malignancy, and that there could be an increased risk of lymphoma in particular.
