3 Media Stocks in Focus: CBS’s New Pilot, Time Warner Cable’s Univision Deal, Comcast’s Twitter Partnership

CBS (NYSE:CBS): CBS has ordered a new pilot that will be produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. A sitcom titled More Time With Family, CBS hopes that the show can bolster its lineup by becoming a successful new sitcom, as several of its currently more popular comedies, such as How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory enter maturity.

Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC): Time Warner Cable struck up a deal with Univision, by which the cable giant will be able to broadcast Univision’s networks for several years. Of particular note is that the deal allows Time Warner Cable to carry the El Rey Network, Univision’s latest project, which is an English-language channel targeted toward second and third generation Hispanic people. Time Warner Cable will be among the first providers to be able to broadcast El Rey after its debut.

Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA): Comcast has struck up a deal with Twitter that will allow the company to partner with the social media giant in order to allow viewers to better interact with their television experience. The partnership will include the debut of the “See It” button, by which users of Twitter can directly access television shows via links. The See It button will appear on pages containing conversations related to the TV shows or about topics that the shows address.
