SanDisk Corp. (NASDAQ:SNDK): Closing price $57.42

The Nikkei reports that Toshiba Corp will construct a memory chip production factory, with a total investment of around $4 billion, along with SanDisk Corp. The former plans to manufacture chips of 16 to 17 nanometers circuit line width at the new plant to gain an edge over Samsung Electronics Co., by making more chips from a single silicon wafer, according to the paper. Presently, chips made at the factory have a width of 19nm. The new facility should commence output in the next fiscal year, and would increase the plant’s capacity by roughly 20 percent, from an estimated monthly equivalent of 450,000 300mm wafers, said Nikkei.
