Time Warner reports that it is presently in talks with Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) in regards to terms for connecting into the latter’s private content delivery network, but the MSO charged Netflix with unfairly holding back content as it attempted to get preferential treatment from Internet service providers.
Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE:LVS): Closing price $51.88
The firm controlled by the billionaire Sheldon Adelson wants a buyer for its casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, say knowledgeable sources, who added that Las Vegas Sands is putting a price on the asset of up to a billion dollars. The casino is the second-largest casino in the state based on gambling revenue.
Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN): Closing price $270.48
When Amazon posts its fourth quarter results on January 29th, analysts will know how the firm’s new state sales tax collections is working out for it. In an unwelcome omen, the arch-competitor of Amazon, Best Buy Co., saw its own holiday online sales rise in three states in which Amazon began collecting sales tax ahead of the period. Equity analyst at Morningstar R.J. Hottovy commented that “There was a little softness in states where Amazon is now collecting sales tax. That isn’t surprising to me. It levels the playing field for brick-and-mortar retailers.”
