The retailing giant is suing the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union along with other groups staging demonstrations at company stores in Florida, claiming that they are trespassing. A complaint filed March 22nd in Orange County requests a court order restraining the group and a number individuals from trespassing on Wal-Mart property to picket, demonstrate, disrupt customers or to confront managers.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM): Current price $28.13

In a vote that will effectively shut down the Opel facility in Bochum, employees at the luxury car making division have rejected GM’s turnaround deal to save the embattled European unit. The failure of the proposal means that the plant will be closed down by 2014 rather than 2016, which will significantly add to the soaring unemployment in Europe since the Bochum factory employs in excess of 3,000 workers. Opel had initially meant to keep the plant in operation until 2016 and keep 1,200 of the more than 3,000 employees in other component and warehousing jobs. Beyond that, GM wanted workers at the plant to accept a delay in wage increases. In the end, roughly 76 percent of employees voted against the arrangement.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (NASDAQ:GMCR) Current price $55.25

The coffee major said that Michael Degnan has been named its chief legal officer, Corporate General Counsel. Also, Sonia G. Cudd has been chosen as secretary. Both appointments are effective March 31. Degnan has served as GMCR’s vice president, associate general counsel, operations since January 2011, replaces retiring Chief Legal Officer, Corporate General Counsel and Secretary, Howard Malovany.

Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN): Current price $260.39

Amazon Digital Music wants Your Music Everywhere. Vice President of Worldwide Digital Music at Amazon Steve Boom said in an interview with L.A. Biz, “The ‘your’ in ‘your music everywhere’ is important.” Very like the “TV everywhere” concept being driven by cable and satellite services, Amazon hopes that its “your music everywhere” philosophy will resonate with its customer base, which traverses both the digital and physical music markets. The “your” emphasizes the ownership factor of the music, which Boom said is an important distinction, given the increase in streaming services like Pandora and Spotify.
