Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM): Closing Price $94.99

Exon Mobil is among roughly 100 oil companies, including divisions of ConocoPhillips Co. and BP, who have been sued by a Louisiana flood protection group seeking the repair of coastal storm buffers. The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East alleges that the oil firms degraded storm protections by dredging over 10,000 miles of canals for pipelines, and by running exploration activities in coastal wetlands, a complaint filed Wednesday in state court in Orleans Parish said. The authority brought a suit for damages that it said can be utilized to repair the environmental buffer zone which helps to protect the New Orleans region from catastrophic storm surge during hurricanes.

Discussions are ongoing with Exxon Mobil Corp. and India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corp., which have yet to draw interest, said Wickramasuriya, who commented that “We have six very large blocks, with very sparse data, that we’re offering on a joint-study basis.
