Google has announced that Gmail will have a brand new inbox on desktops and mobile devices that places users in control by the use of a simple, facile organization. On the desktop, the new inbox arranges mail into categories that appear as different tabs. Users simply select which categories they prefer. The inbox is organized in a manner that allows the user to see if anything is new immediately, and then to decide which emails are to be read. This new inbox can be customized by selecting the desired tabs, from all five to none, drag-and-drop to move messages between tabs, set certain senders to always show in a particular tab, and place stars on messages to also appear in the Primary tab.

On Wednesday, the mobile imaging software solutions provider reported that it has been issued United States Patent No. 8,452,098, Methods for Applying a Signature Simplicity Analysis for Improving the Accuracy of Signature Validation, by the Patent and Trademark Office. The patent outlines the process for measuring signature simplicity, and employing it to detect fraud. Mitek now holds 15 United States and international patents issued and 24 patent applications pending here and in Canada.
