Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT): Closing price $34.41

On Wednesday, at its Build developer conference, Microsoft said that it is opening up a large amount of Bing‘s advanced functionality to developers. Vice President Gurdeep Singh Pall noted that developers are already employing Bing APIs, and apps can now utilize Bing’s natural user interfaces, entities and knowledge, optical character recognition, and new mapping and visualization capabilities, among which includes Microsoft’s just-announced 3-D imagery for maps. Pall also said that Microsoft has been using all of these capabilities privately, but he believes that “if we can do something with an API that is good, third parties can do something that is dynamite.”

Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA): Closing price $14.14

Due to what the firm calls a problem with a third-party mechanical component, Nvidia will not release its new portable gaming device SHIELD for sale Thursday. On its blogsite, the company said that took a difficult decision to delay shipping until July. It appears that final quality-assurance testing revealed a mechanical matter with which the firm was unsatisfied, and it is now working feverishly to rectify the situation.

NVDA

Cray (NASDAQ:CRAY): Closing price $19.64

Cray announced Wednesday that the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts has selected a Cray XC30 supercomputer and Cray Sonexion storage for their next operational facility. The new Cray system will enhance the center’s forecasting capabilities via increased resolution and model enhancements, and it will also support ECMWF’s research program. Comprised of products and multi-year services, the contract is valued over $65 million in total revenue, and it is likely that the system will be put into production in 2014.

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS): Closing price $21.57

Unisys has been awarded a blanket purchase arrangement in support of the Department of Justice Forfeiture Systems, which are  managed by the Asset Forfeiture Management Staff of the Justice Management Division. The DOJ Asset Forfeiture Program is a nationwide law enforcement program that has been seen as highly effective in the fight against crime. Twelve agencies, among which there are several outside the Department, participate in the AFP.
