Sony will not limit sales of digital PlayStation games to its PlayStation Network Store. Employing a model similar to Valve’s PC game marketplace Steam, Sony will permit online retailers to introduce their own storefronts for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and Playstation Vita titles. As reported by Kotaku, Amazon debuted its US PlayStation Network store Tuesday, and is offering $5 PSN credit on digital orders, which is credit redeemable in its buy-two-get-one-free promotion.
Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU): Closing price $150.40
Baidu has launched version 4.0 of its PC optimization software, Baidu PC Faster, to the global market. Arista Networks, which manufactures network switches which rival the company’s bigger competitor Cisco Systems has recruited banks to lead a proposed initial public offering for 2014, say some knowledgeable sources, who elaborate that Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Inc., and Credit Suisse Group will lead the offering that is now at an early stage of planning. Some industry analysts opine that company could have a valuation of some $2.5 billion. Analyst Brian Marshall at ISI Group estimated that Arista’s 2013 revenue could surpass $300 million.
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG): Closing price $1012.15
On Tuesday, Google introduced a new feature for Gmail users that allows them to save email attachments directly in their Drive account without exiting Gmail. While it has been possible to view attachments within Gmail messages for a while, the Drive integration makes it possible to save the attachments without downloading them to the computer. Users may view pictures and other files in full-screen preview windows by simply clicking on them.
