55 Years After Camelot: How the Kennedy Grandkids Are Making Their Mark

When John F. Kennedy spoke of the “New Frontier” in 1960, he referred to sending a man to the moon. His term also referred to Americans conquering poverty and prejudice. Now, the Kennedy grandkids — a New Frontier of sorts — are coming of age. Some seek to continue his legacy, while others branch out and embrace their individual passions.

 1. Joseph Kennedy III

  • Occupation: U.S. Congressman

Joseph III graduated from Harvard Law School. The grandson of RFK currently represents Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives. He ran successfully for the seat vacated by retiring Congressman Barney Frank. He was sworn into office in January 2013 and sits on the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Kennedy and wife Lauren have two children.

2. Robert Kennedy III

RFK III is the Kennedy often seen around town in a fedora. After graduating from Brown, he went into show business, directing a musical called ELEW: Live from Infinity and co-starring with Alec Baldwin in AmeriQua in 2013.

This Kennedy is currently working on a film about Hunter S. Thompson’s campaign for sheriff in Colorado. The grandson of RFK would reportedly like to cast his stepmom Cheryl Hines in the production.

3. Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy

Kick graduated from Stanford University in 2010 and studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater. She’s had parts on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Newsroom, and Gossip Girl. She’s also modeled for the covers of Town & Country and Quest.

The granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy has also worked at family nonprofits Riverkeeper and RFK Foundation. She was a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and Town & Country.

4. Rose Kennedy Schlossberg

The first-born grandchild of John F. Kennedy also happens to be the spitting image of her grandmother, Jackie Kennedy. After graduating from Harvard and New York University, she launched a comedy TV series called End Times Girls Club. In the show, she and Mara Nelson-Greenberg portray girls learning to survive the apocalypse.

5. Katherine Schwarzenegger

The great-niece of John F. Kennedy has followed in her mother Maria Shriver’s footsteps by making numerous TV appearances. These include Rachel Ray, Entertainment Today, and the Megyn Kelly Show. She majored in Communications at the University of Southern California.

In 2010, she wrote Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back.

6. Tatiana Kennedy Schlossberg

She covers climate change for the science beat. In 2017, she married longtime boyfriend George Moran in a private ceremony.

7. Christina Schwarzenegger

Christina Schwarzenegger graduated from Georgetown University and recently produced a film with her mom, Maria Shriver. The documentary, Take Your Pills, explored the usage of Adderall in American society. It premiered at SXSW and is now available on Netflix.

The daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed it was a personal project: She took the drug briefly in high school for her attention deficit disorder; she went on to become dependent on it in college.

8. John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg

The sole grandson of John F. Kennedy appropriately goes by “Jack.” He graduated from Yale in 2015 and would like to become more involved in politics. In 2017, he accompanied his mom Caroline Kennedy to the Met Gala. He also presented President Obama with the JFK Profile in Courage Award.

“I’m inspired by my family’s legacy of public service,” he said in an interview on Today. “It’s something that I’m very proud of.”

9. Patrick Shriver Schwarzenegger

Conor Kennedy currently attends Harvard University. He participated in the Keystone Pipeline protests and has gone on whale research excursions. But this grandson of Robert F. Kennedy really made headlines when he dated Taylor Swift in 2012. He was arrested in 2016 after a bar fight in Aspen. He was said to be defending a gay friend from a homophobic slur.

She’s part of what The New York Times recently termed “The Snap Pack,” a group of young New York socialites for whom a night out’s “main event” is sharing snaps on Instagram and Snapchat.

14. Saoirse Roisin Kennedy Hill

Saoirse Roisin Kennedy Hill currently studies at Boston College. She attended a student rally in Hyannis, Massachusetts, against gun violence in March 2018. She was accompanied by her mom, Courtney Kennedy, daughter of Robert F. Kennedy.

“He and I are the product of gun violence,” Courtney told marchers, referring to her father. “When one person is killed by gun violence, the whole nation is degraded.”

15. Edward (Teddy) Kennedy III

He attended Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, like his great-uncle John F. Kennedy. He’s currently enrolled at Wesleyan University, where he’s on the crew team.
