The Federal Housing Finance Agency has officially sued 17 banks including Citibank (NYSE:C), Barclays (NYSE:BCS), Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) and HSBC (NYSE:HBC). News of the imminent lawsuit over mortgage backed securities rocked Wall St. today as financials helped tank the market. The FHFA suit seeks reimbursement for losses incurred by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ:FNSR) announced well received earnings. The fiber optics company said revenue rose 9.8% to $228.2 million from the year earlier quarter. The news set the entire sector ablaze in the first half of the day. Finisar’s stock finished the regular session up 8.7%.
