These stocks are moving at full steam on trading floors in after hours action, here’s the lowdown on this afternoon’s top performers.
1) Nike (NYSE:NKE) is leading all gainers after hours today, up 3.9% so far since market close. The bump in ticker price after hours comes on the heels of a good day for NKE that saw the stock climb .54%. The company is heating up thanks to a strong fourth quarter earnings report, in which revenues rose 14%, earnings jumped $.017 per share, and futures orders were up 15%. 2) On the other side of the road this afternoon is Motorola (NYSE:MMI), leading all after hours losers (down 1.84%) after a patchy day on the open market as well, trading down 1.25% by closing time. The poor afternoon for Motorola is likely related to Q2 2011 finalized earnings that showed up some weak financials in the company. The stock has not fared well in recent weeks, currently trading just above a 52-week low of $22.13 which it bounced off today.
3) Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK) is striking a fine balance after hours, trading flat this afternoon following losses of .04% on the day. The markets reacted to CEO Aubrey McClendon’s decision to fire back at an New York Times (NYSE:NYT) article accusing energy companies of misrepresenting prices of natural gas.
