US Markets closed higher today but after-hours reports were not enough for investors. Here are some of the most active stocks in late trading:
1) Texas Instruments Inc. (NYSE:TXN): Shares are down $0.87, or 2.51%, to $33.78 after reporting earnings below investor expectations. A Q4 earnings increase of 44% was not enough for investors to justify the run this name has had.
2) VMware Inc. (NYSE:VMW): Shares are down $3.93 or 4.48% after reporting Q4 earnings that doubled & beat analyst expectations. The bar was held high as investors are selling the name on such upbeat results.
3) CSX Corp. (NYSE:CSX): Shares are up $1.44 or 2.13% after-hours to $69.15 per share after Q4 profit surged 42% and cleared analyst estimates on increased transportation volume across the board.
4) American Express Comp. (NYSE:AXP): Shares are down $0.54 or 1.18% after announcing Q4 earnings that rose 48% on growth in client spending and reduced losses. Another report that was not enough to satisfy investors.
