Alcatel’s Evolved Packet Core Is Picked By China Mobile and 2 Other Hot Stocks to Watch

To support its 4G LTE Network, China Mobile has chosen Alcatel-Lucent’s all-IP Evolved Packet Core portfolio, which is said to be the largest ultra broadband network on the planet. The Core is a high-capacity IP solution that is at the center of a mobile network and is mostly made up of three platforms: data, mobility, and policy. Before this contract, China Mobile had chosen Alcatel-Lucent to install 11 percent of its new LTE network, comprised of more than 200,000 TD-LTE base stations, by the end of the year.


eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY): Current price $52.07

PayPal recently announced the $100,000 grand-prize winner of its Battle Hack Series, a world hackathon competition. The two-day Battle Hack World Finals took place at the PayPal Headquarters in San Jose, California, and hosted 10 teams of developers from around the world. To be eligible for the finale, each team had to win a regional PayPal Battle Hack competition. At the event, competitors were charged with building an application that included the PayPal API and benefited the community in some manner.


Barrick Gold Corp. (NYSE:ABX): Current price $17.67

Barrick on Monday declared that it closed its earlier-announced bought deal equity offering. The corporation has sold 163.5 million common shares at $18.35 apiece for net proceeds of around $2.9 billion. As a result, its common shares outstanding have risen to about 1.16 billion. The company will use some $2.6 billion of net proceeds to redeem or buy back its outstanding debt, mostly concentrated upon debts maturing in the short- and medium-term.
