Amazon shares are up over 8 percent Friday after making a new 52-week high following mixed third-quarter results, and positive analyst commentary. Thursday night, Amazon posted earnings per share of 9 cents and revenue at $17.09 billion. Consensus had been for 9 cents and revenue of $16.76 billion. Beyond that, Amazon forecast that its fourth quarter revenue will be between $23.5 billion and $26.5 billion, against analysts’ consensus estimate of $25.89 billion.
Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (NYSE:CLF): Current price $24.86
The number-one domestic iron-ore producer has recruited Gary Halverson from Barrick Gold Corp. to become its next chief executive. Halverson, who was the interim chief operating officer at Barrick, will begin on November 18 as president and chief operating officer before ultimately assuming the CEO role, Cliffs reported Friday in a statement. Cliffs present Chief executive Joseph Carrabba, who announced his retirement in July, will exit November 15

On Friday, Pfizer’s board declared a 24-cent fourth-quarter dividend on its common stock, payable December 3 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on November 8. The cash dividend will mark the 300th consecutive quarterly dividend paid by Pfizer.
