Results: Net income for Amerco rose to $25.4 million ($1.29 per share) vs. $13.2 million (52 cents per share) in the same quarter a year earlier. This marks a rise of 91.8% from the year-earlier quarter.
Revenue: Rose 7.2% to $523.4 million from the year-earlier quarter.
Actual vs. Wall St. Expectations: Amerco beat the mean analyst estimate of 38 cents per share. It beat the average revenue estimate of $503.5 million.
Quoting Management: “As expected, we finished the year on a strong note with continued growth in our core moving and storage business,” stated Joe Shoen, chairman of AMERCO. “Our goal is to capitalize on this momentum amidst a challenging backdrop and continue to better serve customers.”
The company has now topped analyst estimates for the last four quarters. It beat the mark by 34 cents in the third quarter, by 67 cents in the second quarter, and by 17 cents in the first quarter.
Revenue has risen the past four quarters. Revenue increased 19.5% to $633.1 million in the third quarter. The figure rose 10.4% in the second quarter from the year earlier and climbed 9.7% in the first quarter from the year-ago quarter.
Looking Forward: Analysts have a more positive outlook about the company’s results for next quarter. The average estimate for first quarter of the next fiscal year is $4.01 per share, an increase from $3.76 sixty days ago. For the fiscal year, the average estimate has been unchanged at $11.07 a share.
